Well built, all metal construction, It's capable of holding 6 and possibly 7 smaller mics if you use the center mounting hole that goes over the mic stand, you can use a mic clip to hold the bar instead of the washer / nut. I use it to hold 4 large diaphragm condenser mics with shock mounts. It keeps me from having to swap mics for different vocalists when recording. I just position the pop filter in front of the mic that is being used and mute the unused ones. Sometimes I'll actually leave the other mics on and record the simultaneous vocal takes across several mics to separate tracks. This gives me several "flavors" to add effects to without having the vocalist do individual takes on different mics. It saves a lot of time when choosing a mic for a particular vocalist.

Wow I am loving this
Surprised that this came with 6 mic connections. It's pretty awesome and will add much more value to me. The curve angles for other mics are not for me as I only will be using this as a mic holder. The design is nice and it is sturdy.

Solid construction and useful.
I recently bought one of these to use with a pair of Shure SM-81mics for X-Y recording. The bar is nice and solid. My only complaint is that the big screws that go into your mic clips are a bit long, so when attaching a smaller clip like those used by the SM-81s the screws bottomed out before the clips were secure. This resulted in loose mics flopping around. I don't think this would be a problem with most mics that have deeper clips. I fixed the issue by making some custom gaskets on a 3d printer, and now the SM-81s are locked down nicely. Also some other reviewers have said that the main mounting hole threads strip easily. The bar comes with a big metal washer that you use to tighten the main mount, and when correctly used I don't anticipate any thread stripping. This is mic bar is an inexpensive and useful addition to any recording setup or studio.

Convenient
Great stereo bar for drum overheads, piano recording, etc. Takes a minute to fasten two mics and get the correct x/y position, and you better have a sandbag ready, because once extended with two mics, the mic stand will tip. Just used in a cramped space for a baby grand piano... worked excellent. Both arms are independent and that helps to position both mics.

Out of the box, it will need to be modified.... aside fro that, it is great.
when i received my unit, the inner most 5/8' plate treads had to be drilled out, BUT only a little bit...out of the box, the inner most threaded stubs did not spin freely when 'flush' with the bar...this made it difficult to position mics on the bar...So to fix that, i used a stepped taper bit to remove only A FEW threads from the top of the bar.now i can freely position and tighten any mics on the bar in the positions needed!only later reading through the reviews, did i realize that others had the same problem, and that this technique was also used by others to fix that problem...as for the next further out 5/8 stubs from the center, the ones that tighten the arms, they need to be another 1/4" to 1/2" longer as to allow more threading to permit a 'lock ring'....I am surprised that the manufacturer has not yet addressed these issues...this mic bar is sturdy and well made, aside from the design issues that myself and others have found..

Incredibly frustrating to use
Bought this along with a matched pair of Rode M5s to use in XY configuration. I liked the "wings" and hoped they would make it easier to place the mics next to each other. Unfortunately, as other reviewers have noted, there is a huge design flaw - the screw threads that the mic holder will screw into will only hold the mic tight in ONE position (which could be any position - upside down, sideways, there's no consistency to it), and in order to adjust that you have to constantly unscrew the mic, and manipulate the screw on the back. You will never get your mics pointing exactly where you want them AND be completely tight.Worse, the left wing on my model would never tighten no matter how hard I tightened it. Every time I moved it it came loose.More importantly, it is EXTREMELY easy to overtighten a mic clip (or in my case a mic adapter) to this bar because of the way the screws on the back work. If you're not careful the two will become bonded together with the force of a thousand suns. It took me 4 days and every tool in my toolbox to get them separated again. When I finally got it loose I was overjoyed and didn't think twice before requesting a return. The Rode bar might be more expensive and made of plastic, but I've learned my lesson - buy nice or buy twice.

Does the job very nicely.
This extension got rid of 3 mic stands on stage, and still looks great from the audience perspective. I paired it with an extension clamp from a music stand, and the mics stood far enough in front of the music stand to be inconspicuous. Very well made, looks great.

Wider than most
Most of these are too narrow to get the mics aligned properly in an XY pattern. This allows much more options and is all metal, except the screw knobs.

It is very good, adjustable and hackable
I wanted a microphone bar for two small diaphragm condenser microphones. This one works for that. There are the adjustable small tips on the end of the bar. I sort of just took this off, because I didn't need it at the moment. And then the internal pair of screws are threaded into the bar. I am not sure what use case this would be wanted for, because when the screws thread into the bar it is not really possible to put a microphone clip on top of them and have the clip oriented the way you want tightly right. What I was able to do was use one of those step drill bits and just remove the threading in the bar. This allows the screw to fit freely through the bar and bite into the microphone clip only, so now you are able to tighten it in the orientation you like , as shown in the picture where I have an ORTF setup.I might want to cut the circle hole into a slot sometime, this gives me the functionality of those super expensive rode microphone bars. It should be easy to do with a dremmel, the bar is aluminum. But I don't need that right now.
