Manifold Clock, Telling Time in 3D - Pixels

I've looked at literally hundreds of modern wall clock designs in search for the perfect one. The Manifold Clock from Studio Ve is truly unique and simple, yet interesting and beautiful at the same time. Photos do not do it any justice--the three dimensional movement of the clock hands is quite fascinating. As are the shadows it casts when lit creatively.The packaging is very well done, and the clock is secured well in the packaging. That is important as the clock hands are made of polycarbonate that seems to be quite delicate. I suppose it needs to be that way since it would take a more robust clock movement mechanism (read expensive) for it to work. The original design on Kickstarter from a couple of years ago used metal wires for the clock hands. Not exactly sure why this was changed over time.I don't think the clock looks cheap as a whole despite the choice in materials. In fact, it looks quite the opposite once it's hung on the wall. I first set the hands to the correct time. Here's a tip--it's easiest to set the hands to 12 o'clock first. At that position, the hands actually align to one of four "notches" on the body of the clock. Once you get your bearings with the clock hands, set it to the current time, insert a single AA battery (not included), find a spot on a wall away from the reach of children or pets, and hang it with a small nail. It weighs next to nothing, and was very easy to secure to the wall with a small nail. I added some earthquake putty to make sure it stays in place.I eventually decided to use this clock as the centerpiece in a "collage" wall clock (I've uploaded 2 photos). The Manifold Clock draws lots of attention and positive comments from everyone who's seen it. The majority of them call it the "Sail Clock." Many are fascinated by it--all taking a closer look to see how the minute hands would pass the hour hand and how the sail will unfold at those hourly points of intersection.Despite a price point many would consider expensive for a "plastic" wall clock, I can unequivocally recommend it. There simply isn't anything else quite like the Manifold Clock. I do wish that the "sails" themselves could be interchangeable, or for a larger version. Regardless, it's priceless just to witness the smile on everyone's face who see's it!

It quit working after 6 months! I actually LOVE the look of the clock, but it quit working a few weeks ago (yes, I have tried different batteries and even checked to make sure I was putting in good batteries) and I am trying to figure out how to contact the supplier. So far this is the only method I have found. For the price it should work longer than this. I am VERY, VERY unhappy and will be commenting on all clocks like this "telling time in 3-d' and the company until I find another way ton contact them or someone contacts me. Amazon's warranty info directs me to contact the seller, but I can't find the contact info. Will happily change this review if I get my clock fixed.

I have purchased three of these already. I've had one about a year now and it keeps perfect time. It certainly is a conversation piece. The other two I'll be giving as Christmas gifts.

The clocks appear to be sluggish, not really keeping up with time...for the price, the clock-work mechanisms really should be far superior. I'll post some pictures soon so people can see what I mean. I ordered a few of these and they all appear to suffer in the same way. I did use fresh (non-renewable/rechargeable batteries) as they recommend & the clocks are in our offices away from ventilation drafts & open windows so I do not think that the clock's performance is due to these issues. I actually wonder why the maker prefers non-rechargeable batteries?? The clock mechanism is really cheap plastic, (pics to come) so there's not a great deal of pressure for the clock arms to move around.Anyways- time to print up a return slip. Good thing I saved the boxes.
