With concrete floors and a baby on the way, we were in need of a large area rug for our living room. Initially I was searching for super soft high pile rugs (around 1.5-2 inch piles) but most of the affordable options were polypropylene rugs (which may not be the safest option for a baby that spends a lot of time on the rug because of possible flame retardants that could off-gas). My research showed that natural fibers (like a wool rug) would be the best option to minimize chemical exposure.With more research, this rug (the 9x12 ivory) seemed to be the highest pile (0.5 inch) wool rug that I could find while still being affordable and attractive. To increase the amount of cushioning, I also purchased a 3/8 thick felt rug pad https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09LNHSMCT?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1 .With the rug and pad combined, it seems to feel cushioned and safe enough for a baby.After reading the reviews, it seemed that the rug would shed horribly, but that has not been our experience after having it for one month. It does shed, but in my opinion it is very minimal. I also researched for the best way to vacuum this type of rug and it seems that you should use a vacuum without a beater bar. So I've been vacuuming around 2 times per week with a Bissell Zing Lightweight Canister vacuum and all seems fine (there is a handful of fiber that ends up in the canister each time, but from the reviews I was expecting much worse). I am also on the rug quite a bit with black leggings (doing exercises and stretches) and while there are a few stray white fibers that stick, it is not bad at all.Overall, I am very pleased with this purchase and may order another smaller one for the bedroom.

I wish I had ordered a bigger one. The only annoying thing about this is that it does shed. However, I do like that It’s a natural material.

This rug is lightweight, so it was easy to put down and it uncurled almost immediately. It is the perfect addition to my house.

This rug has held up well so far and adds texture to our baby nursery. The pink color is beautiful. Love it!

This rug is awful! It constantly sheds everywhere! I have vacuumed and vacuumed and nothing helps! It sheds minutes after I just ran the vacuum!! I do not recommend this rug to anyone! It looks like I have a big white seriously shedding dog all over my house—and I don’t!
