If you're thinking, "Do I need to spend $10 on something JUST to measure my string height?" Yes. Just buy it. It's going to save you so much time and hassle.I've setup two guitars with this since purchase and it's invaluable. I can quickly take measurements of my string before and after I take them off to make modifications and then makes sure they are returned to the same height.There are many ways to measure the same thing with this tool. If you'd prefer to measure in MM or imperical, or by using one of the two ascending string height gauges, you can. Plain and simple, if you're going to setup a guitar or do any changes involving a screwdriver, you should buy this.This is one of those tools where it's so inexpensive YET so useful you can't justify not buying it.

Thing works great the only small criticism I have is there were some paint splotches I guess I would say that make it a little difficult to read the ruler but I can get around it

I used it to set up snd check all my guitars, it is a pretty basic tool and the markings are clear which was the most important part.

This does just what it is intended to do. Measuring - with any type of rule - is only going to be, as easy, as your vision is good. That includes sufficient lighting. Use of a headlamp is recommended under adverse lighting conditions as, the rule is shiny, metallic. Otherwise, it's right on the money.

I bought this because I though I'd lost my Stumac one, which I have since found. This one was far cheaper and easier to read. Compared to the Stumac version it under-reads by about 0.1 mm - so a 2.5mm action on this ruler shows 2.6mm on the Stumac version - and that difference is maintained across all the scales around the instrument. I'm not sure which is correct as all the rulers I have in my workshop show very slight variations due to the difficulty of accurately machining the ends and edges in comparison to the marked scale. However, as the important measurements are to compare where you started with where you finish when doing a set-up then this very minor discrepancy is not an issue - particularly as it is on the plus side so you will not over cut the bridge. So, personally I prefer the Alnicov because of its clarity and, for the UK buyer, much better value. In my time, I've set-up somewhere around 1000 guitars for musicians and this is a nice little tool to help that process along.

Metric and imperial measurements taken with this didn’t seem to correspond so I checked it against a machinist’s ruler I know to be accurate and both action gauges were indeed off (the mm scale only very slightly, the imperial one by a very considerable ~1/16”) suggesting issues with manufacturing tolerances or quality control. Either way, it doesn’t provide the precision measurements necessary for guitar setup. Best avoided.

I recently bought a used guitar but the high action made it virtually unplayable. After looking at some on-line tutorials I decided to attempt the job myself. I couldn’t believe how easy it was and the use of this tool made it even more simple. The guitar now plays like a dream

What a shame that the company which makes these little devices has no quality control? It is useless if the scales do not line up with the sides. Unfortunately therefore a one-star rating. Very rare indeed for me to give one star

Mine, unlike some, is accurately cut !I do only use these as a quick startup guideline though, then I have accurate engineering feeler gauges and radius gauges.That’s the only true final method of accuracy . . . But this tool is a handy start, and mine was well cut.
