Great for the price
Hesitant to buy this after reading the reviews but everything went together pretty smoothly. Some suggestions I would make is to update the visuals in the instructions, all the screws look the same. Also the length of the screw for the knobs on the top key access point are too long, about 1/4in is sticking out and if you aren’t careful you’ll rip out the Kingsert. Aside from that everything fit great, the dovetails are tight enough to where you don’t have to use fasteners. When assembling this make sure you use your tape measure and dead blow hammer, it will save you a lot of time. The smell is really strong right out of the box but if you leave it outside for a few days it will go away. Can’t really complain much about a couple screws being too long when it’s $900 +shipping cheaper to its counterpart. I will update as soon as the bees start to work the super.

Amazing!
We bought one of these awhile back. Did a ton of research about types of paint that are acceptable. Made it a family event by painting each of our own hands and covering the hive (first picture top is backwards but is fixed now) We took quite a process to try and get the bees to accept the hive. It was recommended to leave them in the NUC the first few days while they get comfortable with the new environment. Then move a few frames over to the hive in the next week and wait to see if they accept… looks like they accepted. I then gave them a couple more weeks before adding the top of the hive. Updated 6/25/25 The bees have started to explore the top frames. I don’t see honey yet but I do see a few exploring. update 7/24/25 My bees have moved up top and are starting to work on filling the frames! Whoop! 8/13/25 Added a photo of the frames filling up more I can say it’s definitely worth it so far if you have the time and patience. Heads up- the directions aren’t fantastic. If you think something won’t fit together make sure you have it going the right direction. We experienced that issue and I saw another review complaining that it didn’t fit but I can see in his picture he also has it facing the wrong direction.

Difficult to assemble and missing parts.
it took 2 college graduate adults 3 hours to assemble. There is very limited instructions and no labeled components. Highly recommend following the installation video on the product page. The honey tubes are missing so I contacted the seller, will see how they resolve.

This Chinese knock-off is WORTH EVERY PENNY
After researching FloHives a lot, I learned they were invented in Australia by a clever guy who wanted to extra the honey without having to remove the frames and stick them in a centrifuge (less work, less mess and less violent to the bees). The original outfit in Australia still sells the flohives but they are like $2k. I ordered this Chinese knock-off and am thrilled. Its made of 100% cedar (it even smells amazing). Zero particle board, all quality. I also love the solid cedar roof that is pitched with gables at both ends. Most hives have flat roofs. This is way better: the attic is perfect for supplements/food and it keeps the hive dry. It comes in two boxes: the brood-box/standard hive, and the FloHive super. I ordered two hives for two different colonies. The company made one error: they sent me (4) boxes, but accidentally send (3) normal hive assemblies and only 1 super. It took me a week to get in touch with them in China but they were amazing and rectified the problem in days. A+++. Golden Palace = Zosolate Store (same thing). I will only buy from them now.

Bee's will not use these frames!
6 month review - TLDR - I HIGHLY recommend that you spend your money elsewhere on either genuine flows or a new set of super boxes. - assembled picture from November 22 - window picture from yesterday Purchased two of these "Golden Palace" hives back in November 2022 - they assembled ok but the instructions were lacking at best. There was also a strong chemical smell from whatever they coated the wood in. 6 months later the smell has gone. 2 stars awarded for assembly and craftsmanship because overall they did provide a wooden box. 1 star for value for money. The "flow" frames themselves operate as they should mechanically, however the Bees do not like them, they will not build wax on them nor fill them with honey. In the last 6 months we have tried several fixes to get them to accept the "golden palace" we have tried with and without the Q excluder, moved the two flow boxes to 6 different honey producing hives around the apiary as well as spending a full day adding my own wax to the frames and every single time the bees will not accept, work them nor add any honey. this coming weekend we will harvest 28 super boxes of honey from 30 hives this weekend, with the only non-producers being the two hives with the golden palace on them. not only have I lost money purchasing these boxes they have cost me ~80lbs of honey from the spring harvest. If the Bees will not work the frames and fill them with honey then they are just useless boxes that the bees will use as a hang out space. I HIGHLY recommend that you spend your money elsewhere on either genuine flows or a new set of super boxes.

Beeutiful.
The hive went together well, for the most part! Instructions were simple. One of the boards split straight across but the split tightly closed when fully assembled. I was not pleased with poorly applied wax, there are some places it pooled but it's an easy scrape off. The wood listed as Fir smelled strongly of cedar, I'm not sure if it was oiled or in the wax but it was overpowering. Some holes are predrilled but the boxes are not, don't try to screw them together without predrilling, it will split. Hive and auto-flow frames did come in two shipments, and I thank the sender for sending a message about that, including tracking info.
