Q: The plastic white piece at the top that holds the flap has broken on my door, where can I get one of these?

Solved - I have gone through several of these plastic backs and had to order whole new kits just for that part. That plastic back-piece for the flap screws is garbage and doesn't hold up to dogs that size (large door). This should be made better from the factory. I finally scrapped it and went and bought my own hardware (small #6 machine screws with washers and lockwashers to mount the flap directly to the metal bar with no plastic back piece. problem solved. Just make sure the short screw faces inward as to not catch the dog from the outside when they go through as the flap will be there to cover it on the inside. Should have been made this way from the start. Now the flap itself will still need to be replaced periodically as they just wear with use but at least it's no longer repeatedly breaking and hanging down.

Q: Do you know why the new flap keeps falling off? Are the screws too small?

Thanks for your question! The screws should pass through the pet door frame, then through the holes in the flap, and then screw into the mounting bar. This sandwiches the flap between the frame and the mounting bracket. This allows the flap to be held into place with friction, rather than hanging on the screws.

Q: couldnt you just make one of these flaps?

Probably but why? Unless you have the right materials and can form a pretty much solid thick piece of rubber with the ridges across the top to hold it in the frame and the strip at the bottom to make it snap closed, it will take some time to make and I doubt it will last as long. Our original lasted 10 years with 3 large dogs and a couple of cats using it frequently. We finally replaced it because the edges were getting worn and letting air paas through.

New flap is advertised as wider than my 1 yr old flap #PAC11-11039. Did the size change?
