This was the real deal, seems potent and good taste, but I found I was allergic to it!
This was a darkly rich purple pigmented powder as I was expecting. The website said it was from Poland where Elderberry grows (also throughout all of Europe), but when I got this the package indicated it was from Chile, so I thought maybe it was not authentic, maybe adulterated with purple grape juice because I never heard of Elderberry coming from S. America and Chile is a major producer/exporter of grape. I Googled Elderberry in Chile and did find in fact that it grows there and is cultivated as well. I know from my herb research that Elderberry is a strong immune stimulant based on some of its lectin content and sure enough I was allergic to as I am to so many foods. My chest developed an itchy rash within a couple days of starting it. I read something that confirmed its allergic potential: "Sambucus nigra agglutinin, triggered basophils to release IL-4 at concentrations of up to 1 ng/10(6) basophils. Lectins with high IL-4-inducing capacity also stimulated the release of IL-13 and histamine. Lectin-induced IL-4 and IL-13 release reached a maximum after 4-6 h and more than 18 h, respectively. Affinoblotting revealed that lectins with the capacity to induce mediator release bind to IgE, suggesting IgE binding as initial step of signal generation. In conclusion, several dietary lectins can trigger human basophils to release IL-4 and IL-13. Since lectins can enter the circulation after oral uptake, they might play a role in inducing the so-called early IL-4 required to switch the immune response towards a Th2 response and type I allergy." - from Pubmed. For most people they are probably unlikely to have a problem, and I myself will still take this again if I get a cold or flu since boosting the immune system is part of this allergic response as shown with hypersensitivity skin tests that confirm an active immune state versus one that is weak (anergy). Glad to see it does have its reputed immune stimulating effects and is probably the real deal as far as I'm concerned.

Pleasant taste when mixed properly with studied health benefits
I purchased this due to various studies on the benefits of Maqui berries for health benefits. I've used this product several times and added it to various drinks and foods. I find the best way to ingest Maqui berry powder is to add it to a smoothie or mix it in with yogurt. I tried it in coffee, water and fruit drinks, but I am not a fan of the consistencies (unless it is blended in a blender). The flavor is slightly bitter and slightly sweet, like the wild berry that it is, and while I have not noticed any dramatic changes in my health, I do feel like I have more energy when I use this regularly. I will continue to use it to test long-term effects on my general well-being.

This product has been VERY useful in aiding both my immediate and extended family in staying healthy for the flu season 2017-2018. I first heard about it from a friend who says she grew up on it and has been giving it to her own children who usually miss the flu every season. I usually have my own concoction of Honey and Garlic that I give to my family. While it is not 100% guard against the flu it usually helps with recovery being faster. For this season I decided to try the Manuka Honey (purchased here on Amazon) with Garlic (from local supermarket) and added the Elderberry Juice Powder. I must say that It helped significantly. While my kids and family members did get the flu, their recovery time was significantly short (5 days) compared to what it was taking others around them. They were also not completely down and out. If you did not know them and just met them you would think they just had the sniffles. I have a very active family, who is always on the go. For the additional protection and shortened recovery time this product allowed. I will definitely be purchasing next season.

Great value! Keep it dry in the freezer.
Works very well. Have bought many times over the years. There is a good qty. In the bag so I recommend keeping it in the freezer once opened because it will absorb moisture from humid air and become unusable (like many bull powders). I put it in 00 size capsules and take 3 times daily at first sign of illness or as a preventative when I have to be around someone who is ill.

Good powdered elderberry with little or no taste.
Elderberry is a perfect product for people seeking healthy solutions. This powder is very good, but has no taste, or I couldn't find it no matter how much powder I used.

Brown and tastes like mud. Not what the original powder tastes like.
