KitchenAid KHM512BY 5-Speed Ultra Power Hand Mixer, Boysenberry

I bought this hand mixer so I don't have to clean my stand mixer every time I want to make whipped cream. So far it hasn't let me down. It's pretty much exactly what I imagined when I purchased it. It has 5 analog settings with a simple slide switch that advances from speed 1 to speed 5 (fastest) and a button to release the beaters. It has a narrow profile so it doesn't take up too much space on the counter and the cord is designed to rotate and lock to the left or right so the mixer can be stood on end without too much trouble. At first, when I purchased this mixer I was underwhelmed by the fastest mixer speed, as some other reviewers have noted. I have come to realize after using it a few times, however, that it doesn't need to be faster. I don't even use it on the maximum setting and I get the job done just fine. I think for some reason we expect the beaters to rotate so fast that they blur together as they spin but in reality, that type of speed is not necessary.It works great, has plenty of power, and I plan to use it for as long as I can.

I own an at-home bakery. I've burned up 2 other mixers in the last couple of years and decided it was time to get a quality mixer. I ordered this one because I could get a purple one and I know Kitchenaid is a good brand.I read a lot of reviews and noticed that a lot of people were not satisfied with it. Well I absolutely love it! One the first setting its slow enough to not slosh my ingredients everywhere, but has the power to mix thrououghly without stalling. In high it's powerful enough to mix up my very thickest doughs and icings. And it's quiet! With 3 kids at home, I hate making a ton of noise during naps, and this baby is like a whisper!!I definitely recommend this mixer!Bethany - The Purple Kitchen

The power level on this is less than the power level on the mixer that I am replacing so I though it wouldn't work as well, however it works better at whipping heavy whipping cream and beating egg whites (the whipping cream and egg whites whip faster). I think it whips better due to the beater design. I generally don't use a hand mixer on thick stuff like cookie dough, but I'm skeptical how well this would work on that.

I purchased this mixer as a replacement for an ancient inexpensive mixer that my mom had bought me 30 years ago and ended up with attachments that weren't original but that my husband thought were better but hard to remove. I bought it because it was highly rated on America's Test Kitchen/Cook's Illustrated and was not disappointed. I've used it for making whipped cream and brownies, and it is a delight to use. I do like the "open" whisk attachments--much easier to clean! I do have to look carefully to see which whisk attachment goes in which hole (they are not identical), but I'm delighted with my new hand mixer. I bought the boysenberry color because it was the least expensive, and it is a gorgeous shade. Not sure why it's less expensive than some of the other colors.

Just what i needed to whip up a batch of waffles. Easy to clean and enough power for even tougher jobs.

I love this mixer! The color is exactly the same in person as it is on the screen. It's a very powerful handmixer. I purchased the dough hook attachments separately and have used this mixer to make breads, cakes, brownies, cookies, and more. They all came out beautifully. I've used this on the highest setting it didn't get hot or stuck like my old mixer. I love the beaters they are thinner and easier to clean.

Works great, love the color!! Simple to use. Since the cord is straight and not twirly like my previous hand mixer, it's much easier to clean, too!

El diseño muy llamativo, comparada con otras de menor precio, tenía una Sumbeam comprada en EU que me duró 10 años. Intenté la misma marca en MX y me duró un mes. No tengo más para comparar, a mi gusto por el precio esperaba más potencia.La usaré más y si me acuerdo y si puedo actualizo mi comentario.

I recently bought the KitchenAid 9-Speed mixer and had issues with it vibrating due to unbalanced beaters. The problem appeared to come from the chassis that holds the beaters into the machine. I exchanged it for another brand new 9-speed KitchenAid mixer - exact same problem. Vibration. I returned the mixer but then saw this 5-speed mixer on sale. I wondered if I would have the same issue and did not! The 5-speed mixer works wonderfully. Last night was a real test when the gingerbread cookie dough that has been known to break mixers, gave this 5-speed mixer no trouble at all. There is no vibration, the low speed is adequate enough for not making a mess of flour all over your cupboard. The high speed is good enough to foam eggs, make meringue, or whip cream. Last night I made cookies, a cake, and squares for the Christmas party at work. All successful! I also love the boysenberry colour of this mixer. It looks so attractive. I bought one of the KitchenAid stand mixers 10 years ago. I do not use it often because most of the time a hand mixer gets the job done with less fuss. I totally would recommend this mixer to my friends.
