REALLY NICE AXE; GREAT VALUE
I purchased this item more out of curiosity than anything. It looked pretty cool and had a number positive reviews, and it was not expensive. I was amazed that it was shipped to me via 2nd Day UPS Air. It has an awesome appearance. It was physically larger than I had anticipated, which is not a bad thing. It clearly has mass and weight, but is not unduly heavy. The handle is fairly long and felt good. It had just enough texture to make it comfortable, but I can see where it could use a bit of help. Using Ranger Bands would give it a great feel. You could also wrap it in paracord or give it some hand stippling. It's open to your imagination. I ordered a replacement handle so that I could cut off about 4 inches, making it more compact. The long handle is fine and does allow a great two-handed grip. The blade's quality is very nice. It's symmetrical, extremely sharp, and has a nice even finish. The spike is equally impressive. While not coming to an extreme point, it is pointed enough to dig in to whatever material you are using it on. It even came well greased. The sheath is a thing of genius. It's articulated and super easy and fast to remove and install. The only thing that it lacks is a method to attach it to one's web gear or backpack. This is not a big issue because there are several ways to accomplish this. The blade's tang extends about 5" into the handle, where it's secured by two bolts. This seems pretty strong. Although I would love to see a full tang version, it would increase the weight quite a bit, which could be an issue. Some have said that after use the bolts can become a bit loose. Placing a drop of blue LocTite on the threads will take care of this. I think this will be a great all around tool for camping and backpackers. It would also handle any fire breathing dragons that you might encounter in the wild and keep the zombies away. The price was equally nice. One can barely go out to dinner for the cost of this thing, and the quality certainly appears first rate. Even if you don't have a specific need for it, it's worth having just because it's way cool.

Cold steel (WARHAWK). AXE
Well made, slightly different design on the pick, long composite handle allowing a solid hit with your swing. The protective cover does it's job but you have to become creative to attach it to your load bearing equipment. I was a bit puzzled about the design of the pick cover and it's function. Actually contacted cold steel and asked if there was a part missing. ( Attaching screw). To connect the axe head and pick cover together. Haven't heard back from them, did receive a confirmation that my question had been received. All told, it is a nice addition to your gear, whether your making camp or ready for whatever your adventure brings. Affordable, useful and reliable. Can't say that I was totally pleased with customer service response. Made a enquiry asking if there was a screw missing for the axe head cover, there response was my providing a picture of the item, a copy of my receipt of proof of purchase. I purchased a package of different size Chicago screws through Amazon and fixed the problem myself. I thought that for one single screw replacement their request was totally out of line. If their concern for profit is that strict, perhaps better quality control is needed.

Buy it and you won’t be disappointed
Wooo-weee this thing is a chopper. Made it shaving sharp (took about 20-30 minutes. It actually came with a decent edge.) and decided to shorten a bunch of the limbs I cut with my hatchet. This thing is a freaking powerhouse. The bolts never loosened, the handle never shifted and it hits like a bag of bricks. I love the long handle since it allows for a two handed swing, a hard one handed swing, or controlled crafting chops when choked up. The edge held up very well against the hard wood, although the wood was green. I added some black coban, the stretchy material the hospitals and clinics use to hold a bandage on for better grip. The handle is rather slippery without it. The spike works well to hook and lift branches when you don’t want to stoop, and I’m sure it would do well to pry apart rotting wood to find bait for fishing. For $53 delivered, I’m very impressed with the quality, fit, and finish that has gone into this cold steel Warhawk. My only complaint is that it doesn’t have an attachment for a belt on the sheath, but that’s a very minor gripe. The sheath itself is fantastic. It hooks over the spike and then rotated over the axe edge and covers it completely. It’s very secure and easy to use. All in all, I highly recommend this product.

Cold Steel War Hawk
It came, out of the box, 'much sharper' than I imagined it would and well oiled. Overall, it seems to be well-made, although, I would prefer a hickory handle. So far it has worked well and I haven't been easy on it. The edge chipped somewhat, but that is not due to a bad temper on the blade edge. I'll take the blame as most 'chipping' on blade edges comes back to the user making a bad strike or hitting something unexpectedly. 1055 is a good steel to use on a tool such as this as it can take abuse, hold a fairly decent for chopping and is easy to sharpen in a 'field environment'. The sheath does its job. If you buy a tool, made out of a straight carbon steel, 1045-1095, be prepared to care for it by cleaning and oiling. Cleaning should be done on any edged tool as soon as you can after use, if only to inspect it for damage and sharpen, if needed.

Apocalypse proof. Wicked awesomeness
This is probably the last axe I'll need to buy. Came surprisingly sharp and has a good weight and balance. I was torn between this and the trench hawk. Glad I went with this one. The sheath works quite well without marking the axe head. Put it through its paces a bit and it has handled everything I have thrown at it. I'll probably get one for my dad. If I had to take one axe into the apocalypse, this would be it. I've been a CS fan for years but never got one of their axes till now. Worth every penny and then some.

Another winner from my favorite brand Cold Steel!
This was my first tomahawk and it's awesome! The price is very affordable and it's made by Cold Steel so I know it's a quality piece , unfortunately I live in an urban area so practicing throwing it will take a drive away but it's sharp and very well made ,like it enough I plan on buying a different one to ad to my over 80 blade collection,I highly recommend this!

A Very Impressive Product.
I remember watching a demo video of a guy cutting though pig corpses and other things to show how sharp/durable Cold Steel weapons were. I’ve never owned one before this because they were a bit pricy for my budget. But I happen to find this axe on sale and, my goodness is this a fantastic weapon. I went out into the wood line behind my house to test it. It cut down a decent sized tree fairly quickly and didn’t seem to be any duller than when I started. The war spike on the back is very tough and allowed me to auger through some fallen logs very easily. It even has a grip carved out at the base of the axe head for whittling or carving spears/stakes. The only negative I could say, is that the axe is bolted into the handle with 2 large bolts. After cutting down the tree I noticed they were slightly loose. Not by much, but it is something to be aware of. No big deal though, a twist of an Alan wrench every now and then is nothing in comparison with how well this axe performed. Cold Steel has earned every dollar of this purchase.
