Nissan/Tohatsu Outboards 1992-13 Repair Manual: All 2-Stroke & 4-Stroke Models

I find the Seloc products to be the most helpful, clearly stated and complete repair guides on the market. I have a 2010 25 hp Tohatsu, (which is not covered by this guide), but a call to the author assured me that there was no change (now that's service!). The book clearly grades each repair or maintenance job by difficulty, so that the DIYer knows the complexity of the task before he starts and can decide to stay clear of it if it exceeds his skill level. The photos and diagrams are very clear and explicit, and there's detailed commentary on each phase of engine repair and maintenance. I would almost guanrantee that you would save the cost of the manual on the first job you do yourself instead of paying a mechanic. Furthermore, there's alot of very interesting comments by the author on subjects you wouldn't expect in a repair manual, like how a four cycle engine differs from a two cycle engine, boat safety, history of Tohatsu. I found out that Tohatsu actually makes all Mercury engine up tp 25 hp, so I can save on parts by buying Mercury instead of the more costly Tohatsu replacement parts. Worth the price of admission right there!!!!! All in all, this was a very cost-effective purchase, regardless of one's mechanical skill level.

Great book once you get used to looking from one section to another. Very DIY friendly.

This book does have more detail on my engine than I had access to from the manufacturer's publications but it also has a lot of info on other models too. I suggest you get a pad of post it flags and go through and flag the pages that matter to you so that you dont have to constantly search for them over the years you use this book. Its a good value and probably the only way it will is makes sense to cover the wide variety of engines that are out there.

This manual is very well written. Provides a lot of great information. But it is impossible to cover every model of outboard fully. I don't think there is a manual out there that covers so many models as well as this one does. It is a great asset to have in the library. Well done Seloc.

Bought a boat with a 1996 Nissan 40HP two-stroke. The owners manual was available on-line but is not meant to be used for repairs. Used this book to replace the water pump impeller and gear case oil. Saved a lot of money! I also have a 3.5 hp and 5 hp Tohatsu which are covered. This manual was recommended during an outboard maintenance workshop and is available for many different manufacturers. A must have for your boating/repair library.

Decent book. I think it is too broad. Should be more specific to the size but will do the job.
