So I've had this for 2 years. Worked well but dents easily. I guess that's what to expect at this price? We just had the soft close mechanism break and the plastic bottom part that holds the silver piston from dropping out broke off. There are several solutions to this shown in these reviews. I used several 1/4 x 4 inch strips of duct tape to hold the piston from dropping out but THAT DID NOT WORK. I then taped a strip of 1/2" x 3" piece of aluminum I cut from a can to cover the bottom hole using duct tape to hold it in place. This provides a good bottom for the piston to sit on. Since the tape will unstick, I wrapped some wire around the tape/aluminum. Make sure the ends of the wire are to the side so that you can side in the garbage container. You can also use small screw clamps if you have them. Works so far.

Very nice trash can! I like the finish and it seems sturdy. I just got it a couple of days ago so I will revisit in a few months if it needs updating for some reason. As an added bonus my cats LOVE the box it arrived in. I was going to take it to the basement and break it down but one of them (I have 2) is parked in it a good bit of the day. Dean, my crazy tuxedo goes nuts in there chasing his tail in there. He has never chased his tail in his life that I know of and I have had them for 9 years. Fun to watch for sure. So I am very happy, I not only got a great new trash can that will help me reorganize my kitchen pantry but also now have new cat entertainment to boot for free. I have included a photo of where it is sitting behind my cabinets with the added bonus of the photobomb by the cat not currently sitting in the box.

The trash can is sturdy and the design is modern and appropriate for the kitchen. It’s easy to use but the pedal is touchy and it slams up quickly- hitting the counter top. It is definitely not smudge proof! I’ve had to wipe it down every day!
