KNIPEX Tools 86 03 125, 5-Inch Mini Pliers Wrench

Knipex makes these in many different sizes, but I bought the 5”(125mm) sized ones to use in my bicycle tool pouch. This is the right size wrench for every repair or adjustment you will need to make while out riding, you should also get the Knipex 5” mini Cobra Pliers and a 3 way hex key set for all the other bolts as well. Knipex is very precise and these are adjustable for every bolt on your bike and grip like no other wrench. They are designed for comfort and versatility (you can true disk brake rotors as spokes as well) and will hold anything that fits solidly. They are not cheap, but they are a bargain because of how good they are. I also have the 4” ones, but they are a bit too small for the pouch.

First thoughts: surprisingly small but well made. I noticed a little binding as you tried adjusting the jaws. No issues. I like applying lubricants to all my tools. These are very handy and compact. Carry them anywhere considering the size.

I’m not sure what I will use these for, but they were just so cute and adorable that I had to buy them. I am already a huge fan of Knipex’ quality so I was pretty sure these would be good as well and I was not disappointed. They are very well made and function flawlessly. Now I just have to figure out how I’m going to use them 😂, but I’m definitely glad I bought them. Two thumbs up and highly recommended.

Better than expected! I keep these in my pocket daily! I am in the commercial HVAC business and these are truly a life saver. Have used them so much and called them my “handy dandy’s” enough that my coworkers now refer to all knipex as such LOL! Great tool and highly recommend!

Kinpex Pliers Wrench are the best! They are easy to adjust, easy to use and are comfortable to use. I prefer the vinyl dipped grips because they are a little easier to get into tight spots. The comfort type grips are good too if you have the room. What makes these special is they have a 10 to 1 leverage advantage as you grip the handles. So if you squeeze the handles with ten pounds of force, you are putting 100 pounds of force onto what you are holding with the pliers. I love them so much, I have several different sizes. No, they are not cheap. But, you most definitely get what you pay for!

Let me mention up front, I have many Knipex tools. Used them on everything from 17,000# army 6x6s to ikea furniture. Like many good things, they have doubled in price over the years. My concern is that the 4” mini does not seem to be a forged plier, but a MIM injected plier. Of course, it’s unlikely you are going to wail away with such force on a nut or bolt with this little plier that it makes a difference. I asked Knipex about this, and while they didn’t confirm my suspicions (see the little circles on the back of the pliers which suggest a MIM part) they did send me the 5” 86 03 125…which is forged. So if you want some cute pliers in your bulging EDC bag to crack walnuts, the 4” is fine. If you are going to wail away at real nuts, I’d choose the 5”.

I was worried that the smaller size might make these a tool I only reach for in niche circumstances. I've never been more wrong. I love these things. I look for reasons to use them, go out of my way to use them. I have a little above average size hands but these still work just fine in them. The smooth jaws are great for not marring surfaces I use on them. I love that I can just slip them in my pocket and forget that they're in there so I usually just keep them on my at all times. These things have insane strength behind them, I can grip things suuuper tightly to the point I have to be careful not to dent whatever I'm holding with them if I squeeze too tightly. and I'm not worried about hurting the jaws on them because Knipex steel is crazy tough, whatever magic they use to make their tools is working for them. The price may seem steep for such a small tool but I wouldn't hesitate to buy these again, in fact I'll probably buy a spare at some point (incase I misplace them, I can't imagine them breaking). I truly feel like this is a tool that I'll be able to pass down to my kids and them to theirs.

E' davvero piccola ma è fatta benissimo! E' costruita con una precisione impressionante! Le due ganasce combaciano perfettamente, non passa un capello fra le due! Il sistema di regolazione dell'apertura è preciso, semplicissimo da usare e soprattutto sicuro! Anche il sistema di chiusura delle due ganasce è ben costruito, nonostante sia piccola, anche grazie agli ottimi materiali con cui è costruita, ha una presa fortissima! Le ganasce sono lisce quindi non lasciano segni di denti sulle superfici trattate, è utilissima in lavori di precisione dove serve delicatezza ma allo stesso tempo una presa sicura e forte. Knipex questa volta si è superata! Il costo...beh è elevato ma parliamo di un utensile professionale che non ha eguali, per lo meno io non sono riuscito a trovarne uno identico o che avesse le stesse caratteristiche.

Hice la compra de esta pequeña herramienta de tan solo 125 milímetros de longitud, la cubro con la palma de mi mano, la compré para utilizarla en espacios confinados (reducidos) dentro de las instalaciones eléctricas, aunque aún conservo al hermanito mayor Knipex 8605250 de 25.4 cm… Estoy fascinado por la forma rápida trabajar con ellas.
