Great fun for kids!
I bought this for my seven year old's Easter basket. It's such a cute concept. You read the book, and there are clues you "decode" with an included decoder wheel. My son loved it, and spent a good chunk of the morning completing it as soon as he got it.

Perfect For A Plane Ride
This was a nice distraction for my son on a flight that was a few hours long. He enjoyed decoding the mystery and it gave him a nice break from his screen. I would say he is probably right at the edge of it being too "little kid" for him having just turned 9, but I will definitely be purchasing the other versions of this for our next trip!

Well worth the price, lots of fun
This book was recommended to me in a toy store as a little gift for a 5 year old and it was a GREAT recommendation! The book says either 6+ or 7+ and it took my 5 year old a while to work on it over quite a few days, but he was really into it! He worked on it diligently and of his own accord. It was well worth the approximate $5 price. He had such a good time that we bought one on amazon for his friend's birthday. Most of this book is using the spinning wheel to decode messages, so it was also great practice for his handwriting. We've tried one other "secret decoder" stories by Melissa and Doug now, and the others are also good, but I liked this one best because the others were completed very quickly and this one took longer. One suggestion for the makers... I would like to see more diversity in the book - please introduce some female spies, and show characters with a variety of skin tones.

Great road trip game
Purchased this for my 8 year old to have on our super long road trip to Disney World which was about 2000 one way. She loved it. It kept her entertained for about 2 hours. It is well made and perfect for kids 7 - 11 and is not messy

Enjoyed by my grandson!
I bought this for my 10 year old grandson, sight unseen. When it arrived I wondered if it would be too easy for him or that he would feel he was too old for it. He worked on it with one of our 8 year granddaughters. Together they had a great time and he told me how much he enjoyed it. (So I just ordered another "Melissa & Doug On the Go Secret Decoder" book.)

only one pen
I would like to have seen a couple of pens for this package. But my grandson likes it.

Great for travel
My 7 year old really enjoyed this activity on a recent flight. It kept her busy for quite a while. She was the perfect age for this product. I had also bought one for my newly 11 year old and she wasn't interested. I would say 6-8 is a good age range for this.
