Good replacement
Purchased to replace a long-serving similar item the had suffered cosmetic damage from the second hand. A bit larger than its predecessor, but that's not really a problem. In some ways that's actually better Has a useful internal light, activated by pushing down on the top, via a base-mounted switch.

Plain, simple, does the job.

Almost perfect alarm clock. One very minor niggle.
** NOT A PAID SHILL, INFLUENCER OR SHYSTER FREEBIE VINE REVIEW ** The Braun alarm clock is a design classic. This is a modern update of their 70's/80's original design. The only difference really being that the clocks are now made in China, not Germany, and the movement - although still Quartz - has been updated from the original design. More on that in a sec (pun intended). It's simple to set up, simple to operate and appears reliable. Open the box. Chuck in a AA battery - NOTE: The instructions booklet states DO NOT USE rechargable batteries, use an alkaline battery - then adjust and set the time and alarm, via two rotating dials on the back of the clock. Job done. Remember I said I'd come back to you about the updated Quartz movement? The difference here is the new movement uses a sweeping second hand, thus the movement is SILENT. No, really, it is. You'd have to use a stethoscope or a sizemograph to detect even the feintest WHISPER of a sound! Compare this to the old clocks from the 70's and 80's and I'd much rather have this new version. The old movement has that classic 'clunk, clunk, clunk' ticking sound you'd associate with a clock - and which nostalgia addicts love, and where the appeal I presume lies for the older clocks. Not for me thanks, the ticking sound would drive me mad when trying to get a bit of kip! Now for the minor niggle. Well, it's a combo of two niggles that are so microscopic that I fused them together to form one minor grievance. The clock is a little too light. Meaning if your hand flails around to either turn off the alarm or press down on the clock to activate snooze, or just to turn on the light function; it falls over easier than a Premier League footballer. A bit of heft on the base might counterbalance it a bit better but again, it's a minor quibble. The other extremely minor negative is the light function. Operation is simple, just push down lightly on the entire clock - the alarm can either be on or not, it doesn't matter - and a soft warm orange glow is emitted from the bottom right corner of the clock face. The clock face stays illuminated for a couple of seconds so you can read the time during those twilight hours, before softly fading away. It's perfectly serviceable, I just can't help but notice it doesn't spread illumination across the entire clock face, so the top left quarter of the clock is not very well lit up compared to the rest of the clock face. A wider light with a wider, more even illumination spread would have been ideal. It's not a deal breaker, just a minor point of improvement. Lastly, ensure you select the right model clock for you as they all vary in size. The BC02 is tiny compared to the BC03, for example. Think about what purpose you want the clock for. The BC02 might be better suited to chuck in a travel bag for holidays or business travel. That said, if you are travelling through different time zones, the Braun world clock version with the fold out map might work better for you, particularly if you are somewhere with poor phone signal, no WiFi or you have no roaming enabled thus no data connectivity for your phone. It's not the most important of features of course, but is nice to have that little time zone map on hand to refer to in a pinch. Society is too entangled in being permanently connected these days I feel. Always bring an offline backup, thus a neat, functional little travel alarm clock is perfect! I bought the BC03 for the sole purpose of keeping my mobile phone out of the bedroom. So far the clock has performed admirably and my phone is not in the bedroom. I'll definitely take a look at the rest of the analogue clock range so I can have a clock on hand for travel, or to gift to friends and family. This is a good clock that does what it claims to do. Yes its not as solidly made as the vintage models, and does have those other microscopic quibbles. But I still think it is a decent product and depending on your risk model I'd personally take this battery powered analogue clock over an electric digital clock. So far, so good. Hope this ramble helps someone else. Thanks.

A well made and easy to use travel alarm.
I have owned a Braun travel alarm for a long time and bought this one to replace the first that lasted over 10 years. It appears to be a good quality item, I hope it lasts as long as the first!

Poor Quality
Alarm went off 25 minutes before what it was set to, useless. This is my third mechanical Braun clock in 10 years. They usually last about 5 years, but this lasted 0 days! Time to try another manufacturer ( no pun intended).

Great Alarm Clock
Great alarm clock with a snooze button. It also has a light if the room is dark. Tiny so it doesn’t take up much space. It also has glow in the dark clock hands so you can see without the light.

Country of manufacture too light in weight and light function at the bottom
It's too light in weight doesn't mention country of manufacture and finally the light function is at the bottom one needs to press the whole alarm clock to see the time at night would have been better if the light function was on the top

Glad to have a Braun alarm at my bedside again.
I bought this very model of Braun clock in 1987 when it was first released. It lasted over 25 years until it got lost in a move. Boo. Anyhow, this replacement feels very much like the brilliant '87 one. Alarm works the same, the light STILL could cover a bit more of the face, and I don't remember a sweep second hand. How smooth, how cool. Anyhow the case feels the same right down to the colour. Now it only has to last me another 25+ years. Glad to have a Braun alarm at my bedside again.
