Update: I'm happy to report that gently prying the bottom off was easy as they must have used like a tacky glue. I was then able to glue the figure back into place. It's now as good as new and I will reinforce the bottom with more tacky glue. I adore these peices, now it gets 5 starsWe were going to return it but decided to keep it.

I really like all the Department 56 Dicken's collection. I just purchased the Scrooge House a few days ago. I read the reviews about the LED light prior to purchasing, but ordered anyway. I didn't care for the look of the light either when I received the house, so I modified it.*** How to Modify ***There is a round plastic housing that holds the light and the ghosts that rotate around Scrooge. There are no screws at the bottom of the housing . You need to carefully run a flat head screw driver around the plastic housing. This will dislodge some glue that would not allow me to get my screw drive in to pry the housing out. You need to slowly take the flathead screw driver until the housing starts to separate from the glue holding it in place. At this point you can carefully slide out the whole mechanism, which also includes the post holding the light. I just popped a cap from an old Christmas light set over the LED to give it a green glow. It is also more muted, than the exposed LED. I really like the look. You can probably get an amber cover as well, if you want it to match your other houses.*** Conclusion ***If you collect the other Dicken's houses, your set would be incomplete without this house.

I must one of the lucky few that got this undamaged out of the box. Everything was in place and works as described. My only criticism is the LED light that is used is cool white instead of warm white.

Really love the craftsmanship on this one. Scrooge being haunted by Jacob Marley on the inner rotating platform is a nice effect. Note that the light is bright white (supernatural occurrence) not warm yellow like the rest of the houses and buildings in the collection.

Like other reviewers I was disappointed with the lack of detail inside by the moving figures as well as the cool rather than warm light that illuminates them. I’m thankful some reviewers described taking the base mechanism out to make changes or fixes. I plan to do the same and modify the interior to add more detail and change the cool light to warm. Other than that this is a terrific Dicken’s house!

Love this piece. Beautiful detail, The animation is pretty cool. I don't mind the blue light at all, makes it kinda spooky. I have purchased three of the four houses in the Christmas carol collection, and so far I am not disappointed. I am still waiting for the shipment with a few other accessories , and the last house. I'm sure it will look great in my Christmas display.One minor caveat though, I wish there was a way to turn off the animation. I turn my village on with the tree lights at night and I'm afraid the the mechanism will burn out. If it is turning all the time. As it is there is no physical on off switch like on the other peices so I can't turn off the house at all without pulling the plug.

One of the most beautiful houses I’ve ever seen. I had no idea that the house was animated when I ordered, missed that in the description. But since so much attention is now directed to the moving characters, it would have been nicer had the background been detailed out. I am very happy with this purchase. It is a beautiful house and so detailed otherwise.

This is an addition to my wife’s handed down collection of dickens xmas village pieces. I was very surprised they were still making them. The quality is excellent and was shipped to Ontario, Canada in one piece. This piece has a lighted interior and dancing figures circling around on the second floor, working fine. She loved it and was happy with it. We have room for one more piece to cover the long shelf that the village sits on at xmas. I’ll be back for another next year.

Gorgeous little house

ich muss meine vorherige Bewertung leider wieder zurücknehmen. Mittlerweile ist der Adapter da, mit dem man den US Stecker an unserer deutschen Steckdose verwenden kann. Das Ding ging kurz an. Die Scheibe, auf der sich Scrooge und die Geister drehen sollen tat sich sehr schwer sich zu drehen. Nach einer Minute war alles aus und seit dem funktioniert das Haus nicht mehr. Das Haus an sich ist schon cool nur die Elektronik darin China Müll. Am besten Finger weg von dem Teil...!!!

Complementa muy bien cualquier villa y le da ese toque especial las figuras se mueven y no fallo el mecanismo, me preocupa cuando eso pase, ya que no se ve desarmable, y si eso ocurriera, tampoco estaría iluminada, pero esta hermosa!!!
