These things are awesome. Bought since my car doesn’t have the roof rails or any sort of rack which I need for a ladder for work. Bough these with low expectation. 50 bucks and an idea. Install and build was pretty easy. Once all was cinched down I threw my ladder up there and haven’t worried since. I have pulled them off a few times and inspected for any damaged caused. None so far. Be careful if your roof isn’t super thin. If you cinch the ratchets down too much you will dent your roof. If only once for a quick second you should be okay. Wind noise is as expected. Look is pretty dope. Changes the look and helps it stand out. The whole thing is super light so add anything on top and you’re good. I have about a 50 pound extension ladder on it and it’s had no issues at all. If you position it perfectly it’s super stable and you get get anything perfectly level on top. I suggest making small marks with a sharpie for where your feet should line up on the inside of your door frame.

I made a modification to work for 2016 F350. I needed support at the cab as 20' sticks of PVC pipe would hit the cab or the clearance lights. The stock bars were too short to reach across the cab. Plus, the straps were too short. I purchased a 60" piece of 3/4" black iron pipe and drilled holes to match with the mounts. A 1" pipe is too big. It’s easy to install, works well for my needs, and offers great value. My only real concern is long-term durability and how it would hold up under heavier or constant use. For occasional use on a Civic, though, it’s been solid.

Finally I can carry plywood in a sedan. Adjustable width and clear assembly and installation. Even has a ratchet strap on the webbing to install securely. It DOES go over the weather stripping of the door so it leaks a little in the rain but it's tolerable.

Even my low expectations of this inexpensive roof rack were not met. The uprights are molded plastic - which may be adequate for modest loads (no load rating appears on the product or literature), but disappoint nonetheless. A much bigger problem was that one of the two tubular steel crossbars, the three pairs of holes provided as mounting points for the roof uprights are NOT DRILLED IN THE SAME PLANE as their counterparts at the other end of the tube. So once assembled, the roof pads at the two ends of the steel tube are about 10 degrees different from one another with respect to the tube. So only one of the two pads can be flat on the roof, and the other will be only touching along one edge of the roof pad, and actually installing the system and tensioning the ratchet strap would twist the plastic roof mount or tear the plastic at the bolt flange holes, or dent the vehicle roof. There was no mechanism to contact the seller, only “self-help” instructions which could not possibly cover this problem. Without time to request a replacement (and no confidence that the replacement would be OK), I drilled a new hole in the correct orientation nearby the poorly-manufactured holes and made it work.

it is best to put the philips end on the side of your tool: passenger side always to the right, then driver side to the left so you dont have to switch tool hands it is bad quality but does a job. the screws are very low quality steel and will strip very easily rubber came dirty from factory instructions fairly useless, and rope loop may get lost under instead of through when on top of your car it will make wind noises

We needed a top of car rack, fast! We purchased the rack to use on our Toyota Corolla. This rack, delivered a day late, was fairly easy to install. Just read all the directions first. We got the rack bolted together, then had to take it apart to add the strap loops. We used the rack to move a heavy iron quilting frame and it worked beautifully. I would highly recommend the rack. The only problem was the straps that run inside the car. My husband is 5'10 and he could feel the strap on the top of his head and it bothered him. I'm 5'4" and they were a few inches above my head. But, in a pinch, this is a great rack. We will keep it in the trunk because you never know when you have to haul something home.

This product came with wildly insufficient instructions, that didn't even mention how to use the screws and nuts that came with it to attach the feet to the bars. There is no way you could get the product working solely by following their instructions. That said, if you're relatively handy, have a screwdriver and either pliers or the right size wrench, you can put these together without too much difficulty despite the instructions. Note that the tools will only be required the first time — after that, you can remove it from your roof and reattach without any tools, and in just a couple minutes. Once assembled and attached, the product is sturdy and stable. It does its job well, and I didn't see any comparable alternatives when I was searching. The rubber bits on the ratchet part make it easy and comfortable to use. As other reviewers have said, make sure to twist the straps on their way down from the roof, which also isn't mentioned in the instructions. If you don't, it will still do its job, but it will make a horrendous buzzing noise as you approach highway speeds. If you're planning to use it like we did, to attach a kayak to the top of the car via additional ratchet straps but without a true kayak rack, we recommend also picking up a couple pool noodles to soften the rods against the boat, and use other ropes to securely tie the front and back of the boat to the rails (or to hitches on front and back of your car, if you have them.)

These roof racks fit my Hyundai Sonata and Hyundai Elantra perfectly. Installation was easy, and they feel solid and well-made. I haven’t had the chance to drive with them yet, so I can’t say anything about wind noise, but they look like they’ll hold up well. So far, very happy with the purchase.

These roof racks are an issue. I followed other people's advice and glued on the pads since apparently they have a tendency to fall off. The racks fit well and stayed in place, were easy to install and did stay on the car without slipping, and did carry our two kayaks no problem. There is a huge issue however that other people mentioned though. These racks are soooo noisy, giving off a high pitch whine, when going over 60kph. We tried everything, blocking the spare holes with duct tape, pulling the straps really tight, nothing worked. It appears the noise is coming from where the base touches the car, like air is getting under since tightening the straps reduced the noise slightly. Perhaps replacing the pads with something softer might work that will be snugger against the roof, I don't know. If you're just using these to move something around on city streets at low speed, these are fine. If you're going camping or on a road trip where you'll travel on a highway....these will drive you nuts!

This roof rack cross bar works reasonably well for light, in-town use, but it does come with some limitations. At higher highway speeds, the stability becomes a concern—it doesn’t feel as sturdy, and there’s noticeable movement and vibration. One downside I experienced was some minor denting where the unit made contact with the roof, likely due to pressure points and the way it sits. Because of that, I’d recommend being cautious with how tightly it’s installed and what kind of load you’re carrying. Overall, it’s a decent option for occasional, low-speed use around town, but for frequent highway driving or heavier loads, you may want to consider a more heavy-duty alternative.

Was secure enough to transport a 160lb septic tank on my roof, I drove across a long stretch of highway with high crosswinds and it didn't budge.
