ECOGARD XF65416 Premium Fuel Filter Fits Mercedes-Benz E320 3.2L 1998-2002, C240 2.6L 2001-2005, CLK320 3.2L 1998-2005, S430 4.3L 2000-2006, C230 1.8L 2003-2005, SL500 5.0L 2000-2006

I purchased this product for my 2002 Mercedes C240, as an inexpensive alternative to the OEM one (less than 10 dollars vs. over 30 for the original).However, what I saved in money, I more than spent in time, as less than one year later, I had to replace this with a new one. My OEM one lasted over 18 years before being replaced (based on schedule, not necessity). With this filter, my car would sometimes not start, regardless of the weather, and fuel delivery felt limited. Finally, it just gave up, and my car wasn’t receiving any fuel.I have replaced it with an OEM one from Amazon and all of the problems have gone away. I read somewhere online that these cheaper filters have a sort of pressure regulator or something. Buy into that if you will, but I will not be buying one of these again.

This is an often overlooked part of regular maintenance in my opinion. Has helped my high mileage Mercedes a ton, as it appeared to have the original factory one before I replaced with this.When I emptied the gas from the old filter, liquid/gasoline came out looking totally black, opaque, and nasty! So obviously needed replacing.Only giving 4/5☆ because I'm not too sure as to the quality and longevity, and lack of instructions &+or specifications/performance data.Tempted to buy another just to cut open and compare with Mercedes' one.

The information about this filter is incorrect. It does not fit a 2006 Mercedes CLK 350. Thus I had to return it and had my time wasted. The 2006 has in tank filter which is totally different than this filter. It seems though that many on-line vendors have the incorrect information about the fuel filter for a 2006 Mercedes CLK 350. So be aware.

UPDATE:I was contacted by customer care after posting my initial review. I must say that the company does stand by their product and I am very satisfied with customer care’s remediation. I will use their product(s) again with more confidence. I am changing my overall rating to five stars.Initial review:This fuel filter's check valve failed after about 10 months (6k miles). The fuel pressure drops to zero after the fuel pump is turned off. This leads to prolonged startups due to lack of initial fuel pressure. I verified that the check valve failed repeatedly by performing a leak down test using a bleeder & vacuum pump with PSI gauge.

It fits and is working great.

Perfect fit for Mercedes C230 2005 Kompressor very comparable to factory specs, I'm a very satisfied customer and I would recommend this product to anyone that owns a Mercedes and looking to save money in the process.
