The specs of this are good, as far as they go, and it’s highly functional. It comes with no documentation, though, except a QR code that leads to a Chinese website. The big downside, for me, is that it requires me to install yet another ‘smart’ app to manage it. That would stop me buying – I want to control all smart devices through a single app, as far as possible. If, however, it doesn’t bother you, read on.The tube can be fixed to a steel surface using the powerful built-in magnets – one at each end – or attached to a tripod using the bush in one end (so the tube is vertical when the tripod screw is vertical). Tubes can be joined, slotting them together end-to-end.No lumens rating is given (that’s bad) but it’s certainly bright. CRI >98 is impressive, although it’s hard to judge whether it really achieves that. I can believe it does though, after using it in a variety of locations for a range of purposes including portraiture. And I really like being able to vary the colour temperature in a range 3200K to 6500K.Or is it 3200K to 6200K? Both figures are quoted in the description. The box says 6500K. That sort of thing, i.e. lack of attention to detail, bothers me. The other issue is the battery cover. It’s loose and rattles, and easily detached by accident. Things like that raise doubts over quality. Then there’s the on/off switch which is very small and fiddly to operate.It really could do with some instructions to cover the basics too. Like remove the almost invisible plastic tab from the battery compartment. Then there are the brightness and function ‘wheels’. They’re actually rockers, not wheels, and they can also be pressed. They have a rather awkward action. There’s nothing to explain them.Enough. I found myself being irritated by this, and wouldn’t buy, especially at best part of £100 each (I’d want more than one). Others may feel differently. Perhaps I’ve been too impatient with it. Maybe I'm missing something. I’ll be interested to see other reviews. In the meantime, I’m going to stick it to the side of the boiler, ready to use when we have our next power cut.

Yes The Covers and buttons do feel a bit cheap, but the LEDs are nicely diffused and it works perfectly, so for what you pay compared to say a Nanlite or an Aputure this thing is great

Premetto che sono un videomaker professionista e sono abituato a prodotti piuttosto standard nell'industria del cinema. Ho apprezzato moltissimo questa luce led a forma tubolare, è molto potente, ricca di colori (e persino effetti, controllabili anche da un app utilissima).Le modalità disponibili sono sia i classici LED bianchi da CRI oltre 98 per colori fedelissimi (da 3200K fino a 6200K potendo regolare la compensazione tra verde e magenta!) ma ci sono i LED RGB che offrono 360 sfumature di colore possibili.Straconsiglio perché con una luce così portatile e ricaricabile potete fare tantissimo, anche su set più grandi. Poi si può montare ovunque con le filettature da 1/4 di pollice o su una superficie metallica (ha delle calamite all'interno).Consiglio se possibile di acquistarne due, perché così le opzioni creative, specialmente se in modalità RGB aumentano tantissimo.

Die RGB Farben sind kräftig und die Intensität ist für so eine kleine Leuchte erstaunlich stark (hell). Die Farbtemperaturen (Kelvin) lassen sich prima von warmes 3200-6200 kaltes Licht einstellen. Das Display ist klein aber fein, schön hell und gut leserlich. Ein Selbsttest hat ergeben, das die Akkulaufzeit in vollem Ladezustand zB. mit der Farbe rot und einer Intensität (Helligkeit) von 100% bis zu einer Dauer von ca. 60 min. hält. Was mir besonders gut gefällt, ist das sich der Energy Tube auch im Ladezustand betreiben lässt, somit könnte man das Gerät im leeren Zustand, mit Hilfe einer Powerbank weiterhin nutzen.Was gefällt mir weniger gut beim Energy Tube?Der An- und Ausschalter liegt ungünstig nahe bei den Lichtreglern. In dunklen Umgebungen kann es dazukommen das man das Gerät versehentlich ausschaltet. Hierfür würde ich mir wünschen, das YC Onion diese bei einer Folgeversion, weit weg von den Lichtregler platziert. Die Lichtregler haben eine Druck und eine Schiebefunktion, was manchmal die Einstellungen der gewünschten Funktionen erschwert, weil man beim schieben versehentlich drückt oder umgekehrt. Die Stärke der Magnete sollte wesentlich stärker sein, den Energy Tube ungesichert in einer Höhe von zB. 2m allein mit den Magneten zu befestigen halte ich für extrem risikoreich. Die App ist ganz okay aber es besteht viel Potenzial nach oben (bitte um Update). Der Batteriedeckel ist etwas wackelig (klappert), auch hier sollte YC Onion bei einer Folgeversion dran denken und diesen überarbeiten.Dennoch halte ich die Energy Tube für ein tolles Produkt welches in Bereichen wie zb. Produktfotografie oder Musikvideos vielseitig einsetzbar ist!
