Q: Can someone give a space estimate of what area this would take up if rolled/whatever up to be put in bike bag or backpack?

Maybe 4 inches wide and 10-12 inches long. You would need something to put it in to have it rolled up. Fills up half the bottom of my rack bag.

Q: Long enough to wear across your body like a satchel?

No. This lock is too short to be worn across the body like a satchel. And even if it were long enough to be worn that way, it would be too uncomfortable to wear due to its bulk and weight at just over 6 lbs.
