Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day (Classic Board Books) Board book – January 7, 2014

I have always loved this book. I read it to my preschool kids, my children and now my grandchildren.The story encourages empathy, ok to be frustrated, and how your day can change based on your own choices to change it.

I read this over and over again to my grandchildren , to their delight

Absolutely love this book. Keep it to share with children and I'm over 80 years old.Loved the honesty and the whimsy.

Kids can associate themselves with Alexander's bad day but can learn that everyone has bad days and tomorrow will probably be better

When your child is having a rough day, feeling down and unable to fully understand their emotions, this book helps to put it all into perspective.

It’s a good book. I just don’t like that the pictures are in black and white instead of color.

I have to say I didn't like this book the first time through. I bought it for my 5 yr old who is going through a grumpy phase and I decided to read it to her for the first time on a day when she was having a crabby day for no particular reason other than she was just in a foul mood. And it is pretty negative throughout so it did nothing to change that. Just piled more negativity on top of her current mood. Since then I have read it again several times with her when she was not in that same state of mind and it has helped. She (and I) can see the story differently and it helps give her a different perspective on those times when she is just crabby or the day just doesn't go her way. The lesson of "sometimes that's just how it goes" is received/absorbed better when she's not actually experiencing it at the moment. My 2 1/2 yr old also likes this book and I tend to read it in a sillier tone with her bc that's just what works for her. One thing about this book that I really don't like - it includes the word "hate". Ugh. Sometimes I change the wording and when my daughter asks why I just tell her that I don't really like hearing that word so I chose not to use it.

I grew up reading this book. I recently bought a copy for a friend’s son. I reread the book and it was better than I remember as a child. Even though I’m 40, I still have days that are terrible, no good, and very bad. Great book for any age!

If you are concerned about the books your children read, you can rest assured that this book is appropriate for them. I was delighted to discover this book and have since purchased it for my grandchildren. I highly recommend it.

Fantastic book! Absolutely brilliant! Kids loved it. So very funny. Beautifully illustrated and a joy to read. Well worth it.
