Works great

This product works wonderfully, the dogs stay away from the mat after they have tested it a few times. It pulses when working and after 2 tests (on medium strength) they were done with the window & the back of my leather couch. Dogs were comfortable enough to sleep on their beds right next to it and not seem bothered by it. Exactly what I wanted-I didn't want to tramatize anyone-just stay away from the window while I am not there to supervise them. I am unable to crate everyone and wanted them to have freedom to roam. I bought the large extension & power adapter, this way I can configure them however I want and never have to worry about having a good 9 volt battery on hand-or worrying whether the battery is starting to fail. The extension comes with a long connector that allows the 2 pieces to be far away from each other (nice design with snaps & a sort of ribbon speaker wire making it a breeze to put together). Both pieces cover my entire sectional couch or alternately my couch by the window and window itself by placing one on the floor. I don't mind dogs on my couch to sleep, but if they are getting in my bay window spilling the plants or standing on the back of the couch with their nails gripping the leather....no way. This has solved the problem and I don't have to get involved-they don't associate the correction with me-just the plastic. You'll wonder why you put up with the hootinanny for so long when you have peace after buying this.

I bought a pet training mat to replace one that was accidentally thrown away. The bottom line is that it works and I recommend it.More info: I placed the mat across an archway between the dining room and living room to keep our fox terrier out of the living room. I originally used a 9v battery. Be aware that the shock may not occur every time the mat is touched because contact must be maintained long enough to build up a static charge. It can take 2-3 seconds. But that's okay, because the dog will eventually get shocked and will learn very quickly to avoid the mat. There were occasions when she would get so excited when someone came to the front door that she would run over the mat (without getting shocked) but then realize where she was and refuse to cross the mat to return. The battery eventually died, but the dog did not test it for months. After she realized that it no longer posed a threat, she was comfortable crossing it, albeit at a quick trot.When I bought the replacement mat, I also got the AC adapter and the extension mat. I'm not sure exactly how the charging/shock sequence works with the extension mat, but I figured it would make it even less likely that she could trot over both mats. After one shock, she realized that the power was back and has not crossed it since. And I have it set on the lowest of the three power settings. It works.

I have 13 rescued cats and many of them want to sleep with me. Impossible in a single bed.! All night they scratched at my door and I can't tell you how wonderful it is to get a good nights sleep now! I bought a 12 wide by 30 long mat which fits right in front of my bedroom door and nowthe cats get the message - They get plenty of love during the day but I have to have my sleep uninterrupted. I lOVE my cats and this mat does NOT hurt them. I would never use anything that hurt them. It only gives them a slight zip. I tried it before putting it down. I highly recommend this mat. BTW I also bought the electrical attachment as the batteries don't last too long.Lorrie

It works. I purchased the cord with it. Makes it easy. Just purchased new furniture and this mat will keep it new and not stinky. The dog doesn't get on furniture anymore.

This was a replacement unit as somehow the cord to one of our mats was broken.I actually think one of the dogs tripped on it and it pulled out from the unit. I should have taped it down to the floor.It was NOT a fault of the manufacture rather just one of those accidents, as I had the unit for many years without incident.It is nice when a company like ScatMat stays in business and is quick to fulfill orders for parts, that is why I stay with this company.I recommend this company and these products.

I bought the adapter to avoid buying and disposing of batteries; like several of the other reviewers here I found that when I use the adapter the mat constantly goes off and makes a clicking sound the entire time, even though there is nothing touching the mat. I gave it 1 star because at the moment it still does provide power to the mat but I wonder how constantly misfiring the powerpack will affect the unit over time. Gave a second star because I think the kitty now actually avoids the mat because of the noise. Stays at two stars because I found that clicking sound going off every few seconds very annoying and for the fact that this is NOT how the unit is supposed to work. I will be calling the manufacturer to see what can be done about this since it was purchased more than 30 days ago and will update with the result.Update: I spoke with Radio Systems/PetSafe customer service today and they will be sending a replacement for the charger. I am leaving this at 2 stars until I see if the replacement charger resolves the problem but I think the great customer service warrants mention. Will update again.Update II: The replacement adapter wound up causing the same issues - constant misfires. I spoke with customer service again and they replaced the powerpack. I cannot run my mat with A/C but at least now I do not have to worry now that the misfires have possibly damaged my powerpack unit.Reduced rating to one star. Would not purchase again and not recommended.

At first when the two arrived and I pulled out the adapter and looked at the scat box power box, I was thinking, omg, this is not compatible, there is no where to plug it in, ugh, guess I'll have to go to the store and buy batteries, what a waste of $12...BUT..THEN I FOUND THE WHITE PLUG ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE POWER BOX AND POPPED IT OPEN. AC ADAPTER PLUG FIT RIGHT IN. WORKS GREAT, I KNOW, I TOUCHED THE MAT ON LOW AFTER I POWERED IT UP. Hence, you do have to hold your hand on there 3 seconds before you feel the shock.
