Q: Are these books different from what come in the kit? I want to get both but not if they are the same

I bought both the kit and the individual books. They were not the same. Although, to be sure, I’d review the titles on the books in the kit before selecting a specific individual book.

Q: How important are language skills? Could a German-speaking child play with this?

Language skills are very important for this product since it is primarily based on reading English clues and deciphering in order to get the correct answer.

Q: How much can kids use these? Is it kind of a one time thing and then done? Or can they "solve" the mysteries more than once?

These are really fun for kids 6-9 I'd say. It is a one time thing as there's magic ink revealed and all that. My boys loved doing them on a recent road trip.

Q: Are these the same books in the deluxe decoder set?

I bought both and they were all different, but I purposefully went into the product details section and pictures to confirm that they would not be duplicates.
