Well worth the cost!
This jacket is expensive....and it is worth the price! Gore makes terrific garments, and this jacket is an excellent example of their superior design and manufacturing. The seams are sealed so no air penetrates during moderately cold rides. With a snug fitting fleece worn under this jacket, I can comfortably ride in temps down into the 30's. I'm 5'8" 141 lbs and the medium fits perfectly.

Good jacket
Just got the jacket. I'm 5'8" and 175 pounds, muscular build, got the XL, and it's too big for my tastes. I like my cycling gear to fit pretty snugly, but it might work for you if you are my size and want to put some layers on underneath. This jacket does not have any insulation. The jacket seems well constructed though I had some difficulty with the zipper. It kept getting the fabric beside the zipper bunched up under the zipper, forcing me to stop and unzip to unjam the zipper... Maybe it's just a defect in this jacket, but I will find out, as I am exchanging it for a large. I do wish the hood was larger, as I would prefer it go over my helmet instead of under it, but it does stow nicely in the collar. I am also disappointed by the small size of the rear pocket. The storm flap going all the way across made me think the pocket did as well, but it is only perhaps half the width of the flap. When I get the new jacket and have a chance to test it in the rain, I'll update this review.Update: Got a large replacement, fits perfect, and I still like this jacket. I rode through hurricane Sandy in it, and stayed completely dry, yet it breathes very well. I still wish the back pocket was twice the size, I can barely stuff my rain pants in that rear pocket. The taped zipper makes the front collar stand straight up and constantly rub my helmet chin strap buckle, which is annoying. People keep commenting about how I really stand out in the jacket due to the contrasting colors and placement of the reflective piping. I really like the breast pocket, it has a large opening. The new jacket has no issues with the zipper, so I definitely just got a defective unit the first time.

Nice light jacket for bicycle tours and casual use
This is a VERY light jacket, I could not believe that it's made of Gore-Tex (my previous Gore-Tex jackets were warm and sturdy). It has a mesh lining which is not too warm and vastly improves comfort in comparison with pure waterproof fabric. The fit is relaxed, so I can easily wear something like Windstopper or fleece vest beneath this jacket. The hood is very compact and it fits into the collar well. Four pockets with zippers make this jacket a good choice for bicycle tours and even for casual use.The only thing that I don't like is lack of underarm vents.

1 5 Cheap Quality, Ugly fit
This jacket is absolutely not a slim fit. I have another Gore Jacket which is comfort fit same size. It is a lot slimmer than this jacket. This is more than acceptable relax fit for biking or running. The outer shell material feels very cheap. You can feel the same cheap quality on any $20 sports jacket.I am not sure whether the shell material will be able to hold the water for the gore-tex to be able to breathe.Disappointed on Gore's quality control. I have another jacket which is very good quality and another pants which is good too.I am 5-6 130lb. I ordered size S.

Runs large. Don't follow the size chart.
We went by the size chart, but it was way off. With arm length and height, we needed an XXL, but in reality that was too big. I should have gone with my gut and ordered the XL rather than the XXL. Great quality.

Staged reviews
I bought the black and yellow version. At first glance it seems a bit light but well made. The outer fabric is soft with an almost velvety feel to it. I will update this review after use.1 week later: I've used it on my cycle to work now. It's definitely more breathable than previous cycling jacket so I'm les sweaty on arrival. It fits snugly yet didn't hinder my movement, which is a plus.

veste gore bike wear
