Q: Can you move the dividers (or are the listing picture sizes incorrect)? Standard paper is 8.5x11, and the listing shows main compartment is 8x11.5

The measurements appear to be accurate, and the partitions do not seem to be moveable. A standard sheet of 8.5" x 11" paper does not lie flat in the large right-hand compartment.

Q: Will an 8.5x12x1 laptop fit inside over the dividers?

No. Nothing fits over the dividers. It closes flush with them. The largest space inside us only 11.5 inches x 8 1/4. I think the dividers could be removed if you tried hard enough, to leave just one big space.

Q: The magnetic closure is very secure. Does anyone have an method to open it easily?

Yes!! We put a knob on the lower piece, so I hold onto the little porceline knob (what we had in the ditty drawer in the garage) and I'm able to open the top much easier!

Q: What material is inside the fabric of the padded underside?"

Not sure exactly what, a firm foam probably?! It’s very nice, well made and good quality.
