Air King DRLC701 Round Bath Fan with Light, Bronze

The style of this fan is very nice for a confined space, and the glass distributes light evenly. I purchased this in July 2017 and had no intention of using the fan that came in the fixture because I was installing an inline fan up in the attic space to reduce unnecessary noise for early morning starts on workdays.About nine months after installing it in a very small condo bathroom just large enough to enclose a tub and toilet, I noticed a few small spots of rust. A few more months down the road and the thing is nearly all rust. Keep in mind, this room is very small and subject to becoming very steamy when showers are taken.It's a pity because I really like the fixture. I would definitely recommend it for a space away from high moisture generating sources or rooms that need ventilation such as a basement or above a makeup station... maybe a hookup to an ERV or something like that, OR, before installing, make sure you sand and refinish it with something that can repel moisture, or you'll be replacing yours like I am now.***The finish that comes on this fixture is not suitable for very moist rooms***

Since some say it rusted, I gave sprayed with polyurethane coating, prior to assembly(even the end knob). It was easy to install and we aren't very smart with this stuff! If one wall switch to operate, put wires...red/red,,,black...black...white/white...if separate wall switches(2)..one for fan...one for light...then...put red to black, black to red and white to white....always blue to blue for ground! This is absolutely very classy and well made..the glass is very thick...noise level is moderate...no different than most I've ever heard....definitely not obnoxious or anything. I would buy again and tell others to buy!

Great price. Work just fine. My favorite part was getting the install through Amazon- it could quite possibly be the first time anyone has ever shown up on time.. the installer also gave me the impression, he was very concerned about not getting any negative feedback from an Amazon job- so I think Amazon does not put up with putting their name behind people who get complaints. That part should not be taken fro granted bc I have had plenty of subcontractors for huge stores make big mistakes, not show up, do a really poor job, etc...

The fan delivers on it's objectives: it is a powerful exhaust fan that provides light. It is a little loud but that is okay. Sometimes it's a nice to have a little noise in the bathroom to block out sounds. The headline of my review is "Contractor Grade". No frills and no instructions were in the box. Luckily the instructions for this item are posted on the Amazon page for this product. I read the previous reviews and took the advice about potential rust problems and sprayed two coats of satin sheen clear paint. Note: I suggest masking the light fixtures, threaded materials along with the cloth covered wire.This fan is ideal for new construction. However, I felt the instructions were very poor as applied to my situation. I was replacing an old fan with no access from the attic. The instructions suggest cutting a hole in the ceiling that is the same size as the metal housing. If you do that, you will have issues trying to affix the housing using the metal tabs or the rails. One positive thing about Air King, I called their West Chester, PA office and spoke with a gent in Technical Support and he provided some tips for attaching the housing to the joists. He indicated that contractors often avoid the mounting rails and tabs and simply drill holes in the metal housing and screw it into the joists. I followed his suggestion and drilled holes and used drywall screws. Note: one side of the housing was screwed into the joists and I screwed two other sides of the housing into wood strips that I screwed into the joists. This made it very secure.Wiring was easy as I took photos of the wiring scheme from the existing fan and matched them up to the new wires. I have worked with Nutone Fans in the past and they often have a nice panel to remove to permit access. This does not. There is a curved piece of sheet metal in the housing protecting the home for the wiring. I used a screwdriver to push this panel loose from the notches. This allowed me to do the wiring.I cannot believe how much time I spent trying to attach the light housing. They provide two lousy screws that are barely long enough to screw into these little notches in the housing. I substituted two screws from my workbench that were slighly longer.We bought this fixture because my wife liked the light fixture. The thing is installed and up and working. In retrospect, I wish I had paid more money for a unit that might be more user friendly with regards to the installation, etc.

I was disappointed with the quality of this fan for the price I paid. The quality of the sheet metal and the fit up of the parts was mediocre. The spot where the electrical connections are made is set up in such a way that you have to have long skinny fingers to reach into the "box" to thread the wire nuts on. Other fans have a removable panel on the side that gives you room to work. I had to bend several peices of sheet metal to get it to line up. The design of the fan shroud leaves a lot of gaps so there is a lot of wasted air blowing out around the shroud instead of out the duct. The cover doesn't fit tight to the casing slowing more wasted air blowing. The cover itself is attached to the casing by some very sketchy "lances" instead of sheet metal tabs or a through rod like higher quality units. The fan is on the loud side and overall the fan doesn't evacuate much air.

Cheap price and what seems like a pretty cheap light and fan. Installation for me was relatively easy as it was replacing an older Broan that was nearly identical. The real pain in the butt and where I couldn't believe how crappy the thing was is how the main light plate is screwed to the metal housing. I have never seen this before and it wasnt easy. There are lances which are apparently just stamped/crimped pieces of the housing that the screw goes through. It is not threaded and not east to screw the round light plate to housing box. the screws are thin and crappy and the lock washer isnt even big enough and go right through the hole slots in the round light plate. had to grab my own washers and nearly stripped both screws trying to screw into these poorly and cheaply designed lances.

great for the bathroom or any room that needs a vent,as well as fewer things on the ceiling making it visually more attractive this is my second bathroom with this fan

arrived quickly looks great but had to get an electrician to install it and he even found directions hard to read
