reading the text is like getting soul-baring letters from members of your beloved tribe ...
Seth Apter's second North Light book has been a revelation. I have meant to review it here so many times! Each time that I look through it for things to include in a review, I get distracted by the stunning and meaningful art and the intimate feelings and thoughts shared by Seth and the guest artists. For artists, reading the text is like getting soul-baring letters from members of your beloved tribe and feeling the warmth of connection with each one.The book does include tricks and tips, and thank heavens, it does not include "how you can make a piece exactly like mine." The book urges us to look within ourselves and to mine deeply for the gold within us with the same courage and humor as the artists in this book. You can get this free if you have Kindle Unlimited, but I strongly urge you to buy a print copy. I like to see the art work bigger and to enjoy the gorgeous design of the book. And to hold the book lovingly in my hands as I drool over it.

All I can say is "Wow"!
In this book, the author spotlights 30 artists. He provides 3 prompts for them to choose from to create a work of art, and the artists describe the inspiration for their finished pieces. There are some pictures of the creative process for some of the pieces, but keep in mind, the book focuses on the "Artist" - it's not focused as much on instruction. Also, the reader is directed to the artists' websites or Create Mixed Media . com, but not to take the place of printed book content. This is still a full and complete book. The featured artwork along with the artist interviews are so inspirational. I highly recommend this book.

Multi-use Book - More Than Your Money's Worth
This is a multi-use book: A good read to cuddle up with; a "how-to" instruction manual; a book you can pick up, leaf through randomly and find some fascinating AND useful tid-bit... It provides a wealth of delightfully surprising insights into the lives and works of the 40+ artists featured. In addition, you will find unique tips and techniques you can apply immediately to your own work. Plus, there's a treasure trove of links to excellent sites on the web. Well worth the price.

The Title Says It All
I enjoyed the earlier book quite well and pre-ordered this. I' not sure what I was hoping for really since the title really does tell it all. This is a book about Mixed media artists and how they do their thing. Not much on instruction, but the book does offer interesting insights in to the creative process of some the best mixed media artists out there.

I have been experimenting with mixed media for several years ...
I have been experimenting with mixed media for several years and I'm thrilled with this publication. The individual insights and tips shared by these artists was beyond my expectation. I would suggest that artists of all levels make this book a part of their reference and creative inspiration library. I will definitely look into purchasing more of Seth Apter's publications.

Disappointed
Disappointed with this book, I was looking forward to getting it as I like Seth Apter's craft products. There is nothing in it at all that would give me any inspiration. It's not what I would call main stream mixed media, it's very specialised.

Not quite what I expected.
Very interesting and informative book on artists and their perspective on their work. Not quite what I expected but still pleased I bought it. I expected it to be more about the processes and media used. Still a great insight into mixed media.

Art tips
I liked this book overall. Some artists were great at sharing their secrets and I felt I had gained a small insight into these peoples world.A few more ideas and tutorials would have been good.
