As soon as he arrives on campus, he discovers that the student body includes overendowed girls in micro-miniskirts that show their panties. His childhood friend Haruko Amaya offers to show him around, but Takeru quickly acquires an enemy, Kodama Himegami, who attacks him, and a defender, Inaho Kushiya, who cls to be his fiancée. The buxom trio moves into Takeru's student rooms and a predictable series of mishaps follows. Takeru learns that students at Tenbi Academy use magical powers called Elements and special weapons known as Maken in elaborate duels. Although it's initially uncertain just what Takeru's Element is, he and fellow lecher Kengu Usui join Haruko on the Security Committee (mado kenkei kiko, abbreviated to "Maken-ki") to ensure fights are fair and the school is safe. The minimal story line of Maken-ki exists only to provide excuses for fan service panty and cleavage s. There are scenes of Haruko in the shower, an episode at an onsen (hot springs), a festival with a maid café, comparisons among the girls, and all the other familiar elements of a fan service show. An unrepentant voyeur, Takeru is not an impressive hero, even by the undemanding standards of the genre. The female characters are standard types from anime's equivalent of Central Casting.
