Review: Great read - If you're working CoDa, this is a great pickup Review: A great book for anybody in CoDA! - This is a great companion book for anyone working through the 12 Steps of CoDA. Meetings were helpful for me to hear others' perspectives and experiences and were a necessary part of my recovery journey, but this book allowed me to do work at home between meetings at my own pace. Melody's approach is compassionate and thoughtful. She provides extensive examples and ideas to mull over, consider, and apply to your own life and recovery. I highly recommend this book to anyone ready to embark on the fulfilling and life saving road to recovery!

An eyes opening book that goes in depth into the steps in a very revealing way, but without making you feel overloaded.
With Melody's helpful, clear and revelatory style of writing, you get the feeling that you are talking with someone who "knows everything, has been there, and done that" and has come out on the very top. She leaves no stone unturned, yet writes in a clear manner that is very easy to follow. She writes with honesty. The stories that she has picked to illustrate the concepts that she is writing about are very much relevant to each concept. She spends time to take you through each of the steps and she is thorough and very in depth, and yet does not waste 1 word on anything trivial; and one doesn't get the feeling that she is moving on to another concept too soon. I recommend that you see her interviews on youtube as a supplement to understanding who she is and why she is doing this work.

Excellent resource for working the 12 Steps for Codependency
This is a wonderful book for anyone working the 12 Steps for Codependency. I read each chapter as I was working that step. It's too much info to just read through. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is because I have a very specific faith, so that part is a bit lacking for me personally, but appropriate for the general reader. It is a valued addition to my library!

Newcomers of Al Anon not suggested.
Perhaps 'love' is not quite a word I would use to describe however it is a very informative book and for those who have been with Al Anon for some time, they will find it interesting. I wouldn't suggest you read it if you are a newcomer for they are not one of the suggested books, nor spoken about in the meetings as this causes confusion. There is a little too much conversation about 'god' especially if you do not understand that this is a spiritual programme and does not relate to a 'god' as in a religious sense. However she fits nicely into Al Anon's (and damaged childhoods). It is a pity it could not be utilised alongside the suggested reading list.
