what direction does it rotate, and witch way is that?

It rotates clockwise and counterclockwise depending on whether your engaging the pump or disengaging it.

If the the bottom of the shipping box is saturated in oil, is this an indication the pump may be damaged/leaky? Pump is even tripple bagged w/i box.
