Does the c-pen reader work in english / spanish and french? is this by default or it is necessary to buy additional languages package?

The c pen speaks English or Spanish only but there customer service if you e mail them are very helpful to answer your questions

It comes with a charger. I'm not sure if the internal battery can be replaced as I bought it for someone

I find it's quite loud and I've never had any trouble hearing it but my hearing is pretty good. If he has a hearing aid I don't think he will have any problems. If he does not hear it well enough make sure you buy it from a company that accepts returns and you won't lose your money. Sorry I could not be of more help
