Ive heard the previous one does.** A: No. I've had the Echo Auto 1 installed in both of my vehicles for a few years. They automatically connect to my phone when I start my car and they are nearly flawless in operation; further, they do everything that the echo devices in my home do. Other than at setup, I've never needed to open the app on my phone to use the devices. **Q: What's are the benefit of upgrading to Gen 2 from Gen1?** A: My gen 1’s are still working great almost 2 yrs later. I never lose my connection. They’re actually on sale for under $10 during Prime Days!
