Works quickly to remove 1/3 to 1/4 of an inch of old mortar. Eye protection (safety glasses) is a must!!! Worked better than I anticipated.

I ground down several area of sidewalk after my tree pushed up the sidewalk. I plan on touching up the area each year rather than cutting down the tree. The grinder wheel worked great but I expect to order a new wheel each year.

I've just tested this briefly on a concrete block, but it seems to cut nicely. I'm planning to grind down a concrete threshold to clear a storm door that's too tight.UPDATE: I used the diamond grinding wheel to reduce the height of a concrete threshold, about 36" x 6". The material removal was slower than I expected based on online videos. I removed less than 1/8" on average, and pretty well used up the abrasive material. I did some of the grinding iwth the surface wet, and it seemed that progress was slower wet than dry.

I really liked this grinding wheel; I have been removing tiles and thinset from my bathroom at first I was using a demolition hammer with a thin set scraper to remove the thinset. The Thinset was very stubborn and the demolition scraper kept taking out chunks of the concrete. Once I tried this grinding wheel it removed the thinset very quickly and smoothly. I removed all the thinset in my bathroom in a 1/4 of the time that It would have taken with the demolition scraper and the over all job went much more smoothly I don't have any large chunks taken out of the concrete from the grinder. After removing the thinset and finishing the job the grinding wheel was still in very good condition with tons of life left in it. Very good quality for the price!! Would buy this again.

In just a couple minutes it smoothed out an uneven sidewalk joint. But wear a mask, pretty dusty task after assembling it and attaching it to my electric drill, but it accomplished the grinding job quickly. No more stumped feet.

This wheel was perfect for removing old, thick, thinset from a concrete floor. It really made what's normally an awful job much easier (I can't even imagine how long it would have taken me to remove this with a scraper and demo hammer). I highly recommend this tool along with a dust shroud for your angle grinder. Your back will thank you :-)

UPDATE: I’m dropping another star! I finally got a chance to really use this wheel and am not excited about it, so not excited I threw my old worn out Dewalt grinding cup on, until it was pushing the edge of no longer being safe and had to throw this wheel back on, then was truly hating life! If you don’t have anything to compare it to, and you don’t care if you leave marks behind, have to fight it the whole time, (because it’s not balanced properly and has a slight wobble), and it just doesn’t cut into the concrete like a better quality cup does, or if it’s just need it for a quick second yeah it’s fine. Buutttt if you don’t want to have to deal with any of that just go to a big box store and buy a name brand cup and be done with it…the longevity and quality work will pay for itself tenfold. I didn’t have a huge job, (about 70 linear feet on my pool where the waterline tile goes), that I needed to clean up and I wished I had something different because the wheel dragged it on longer than necessary because it is just all around just ok. it’s not horrible, but as I said if you don’t know you would think that’s how it’s supposed to be…that is until you buy a good cup and you’ll never go back. When I have to grind the concrete floors I will be investing in a higher quality name brand cup.———I guess I wasn’t paying attention when I ordered this…I was thinking it was a standard cup but it’s not, it attaches like a wheel. I didn’t know there was a difference in verbiage but this attaches to your grinder like any ol’ cutting wheel and doesn’t possess threads to screw onto the grinder. I have 3 different grinders that I tried putting this on. The results are below:Dewalt - DW400 (older grinder) = must use metal plate because wheel hole is too big. The shape of the metal plate and the grinding wheel are different and won’t seat properly thus you’re unable to tighten screw enough to get it snug so it doesn’t move.Boasch - GWS8-45 = Fits with ring and snugs down tightly even with a generic shroud attachment even though this grinder isn’t supposed to be used with a cup/grinding wheel.Dewalt - DWE402 (new grinder) = Fits and snugs down nice and tight.The box doesn’t have any information in/on it so I don’t know for sure what the max RPM this thing can handle. There is 80 m/s and the number 12,200 imprinted on the item so I’m assuming it can take up to 12,200 RPM but I’m not too sure. My new Dewalt spins at 11,000 RPM. You never want to exceed the RPM of an item for a grinder because the consequences could cause injury or death.I took off a star because it wont fit on any grinder because it’s not threaded.

I am sanding my concrete basements walls in order to put 1x4 strapping up. So far I have used only one disk for one wall. This disk works very fast but creates a lot of dust. You must wear a dust mask and goggles when using.
