I hold my hands up and admit I was doing it all wrong. You have to press the marinate button on the side of the machine. Hold the hand help adaptor down on the green oval button in the centre of the container, press the marinate button, and you will find they work perfectly. So pleased. Amazing what you can achieve if you do it right. To be fair of other reviews on here, the instructions are not good.
