After exhaustive research I chose the Herche and I'm convinced it was the right choice. Not only a very beautiful, it's solid and tight throughout all the keys. Tone is excellent and consistent and key function is light and smooth. This is a perfect saxophone for beginners, especially at it's price point, but I'm confident that more advanced players would appreciate it as well.I was impressed with the accessories the set came with considering the quality that it possesses and found they all work very well, though you may want to upgrade the neck strap if you need extra padding for your neck, as I did. The case is fantastic and also very well made, resembling the ones you'd expect to receive with a much more expensive instrument.Even though this is nearly a solid 5 star review, I later opted for the Yamaha 3c & 4c, which made this sax even better since this was my first reed instrument.Finally, the 3 year warranty and 1 year service really sends it over the top, well above anything else I was considering.Overall, 5 out of 5 and YES, I would definitely recommend the Herche over ANY other sax at around this price - even several hundred more!

The tone on this sax is pretty good, and this is a good student instrument for the price. Some pads were not seated properly, but with some adjustment it was able to be played. As it shipped it was not playable.

My other Saxophone got out of adjustment and I was not able to get it down to my repairperson to get it adjusted and figure out what was going on. This happened right in the midst of Orchestra season and rehearsals, so I could not do without my saxophone. I had been in the market for another one anyway - as a back up or something. I found this one,and I am here to say it has not disappointed. I LOVE IT! It has a dark, very rich tone to it. Very responsive, And so far, has proven to be of very good quality. So, it is my primary alto saxophone and the other one - once I get it to my repair person - will be my backup. I play multiple instruments and have been a professional flautist as well. I play oboe primarily in the Orchestra now, but periodically will be asked to play Sax when we have pieces for sax. So, yes, this is a solid alto saxophone.

Right out of the box the sax looked beautiful. Took a few minutes to set up the reed and mouthpiece; not too fond of the ligature but it works. However, when I started working the keys I noticed the G key was stuck closed. The stopper was not stuck to the hole; something about the mechanism was preventing it from releasing naturally. I boxed everything back up and returned it to Amazon. They received it yesterday but I'm still waiting for a refund. Overall, a less-than-good experience.UPDATE: The return went smoothly, and a I ordered a replacement sax. This one was gorgeous and worked perfectly (as far as I can tell - I’m a newbie). I’m in the process of familiarizing myself with the instrument - and avoiding that high-pitched squeak! - but so far I really like it.

I purchased in June. My son started playing it August 8 and it is sounding horrible. I did not buy the protection plan but should be covered under warranty

My daughter's school started a band class for the first time ever in the 23-24 school year. They had an instrument rental company which we could rent or purchase from. She wanted to play saxophone, but I was shocked at the cost it would be to purchase the instrument through them, let alone to just rent it and have nothing for it at the end, so started researching online. I was pretty skeptical about purchasing a saxophone on Amazon, but I was led to Herche through a couple of non-amazon internet articles listing good options for the price for alto sax. So I took the plunge.She has been using this saxophone for over a year now with zero complaints. First of all it is a beautiful instrument, it comes with everything needed right out of the box. We have had to order some replacement reeds, but that is to be expected as those just naturally need replaced periodically. The case is fantastic (the rubber handle cover over the top handle is starting to fall apart, but it gets hauled back and forth to/from school a lot by a middle schooler, so that's not shocking). It plays beautifully. My daughter has really enjoyed learning to play over the past year plus, and has gotten pretty good (for an 8th grader). She plans to continue playing it in the high school band as well.I also love that it is crafted in America, and comes with a 1 year maintenance plan and a 3 year manufacturer's protection promise. All in all this was an excellent purchase and I highly recommend it.

Was completely unplayable when received

This was 50 yr anniversary present for my wife. In high school she played Saxophone. There has been talk about wanting one for several years. She retired about a year ago and the talk was finally getting more serious. I researched new and used ones and to get back into it this seemed the best bang for the buck. I’m not a musician, but wanted a good quality middle of the road instrument. To make a long story short she is thrilled with it and uses most everyday. Actually the quality is a little better than I expected and like the idea of a company fairly close if we have a problem.RespectfullyJIC
