good oil filter

I've been using Fram oil filters for decades as I change my own oil. I believe the oil to be the lifeblood of the vehicle. I cannot tell you if they are better than all other filters. I can tell you the mechanics always said my oil looked very clean. My vehicle is going on year 23. The engine runs as well as it did in year 1. You read a lot about saving money on filters. Why would you? Put the best filter you can on your vehicle. The return on investment far outweighs the cost. I will continue to use the Fram filters as they have always treated me well and based on engine performance, my vehicle as well. 1 note. The textured end is great for controlling take off and put on.

No problems, they work well. It’s either this or mobile 1 for my vehicles.

If you change oil and filters regularly there is no real need for a filter advertised as good for 20K. However, the price is definitely reasonable, and the apparent quality is good. I liked the rubberized bottom as it allowed a firm grip on the filter without any slippage.

i know, its fram. i've never had an issue with them (knock, knock). the rubber is veryyy helpful in this particular application. gm, like most manufacturers hires design engineers that specialize in planned obsolescence and post purchase maintenance oblivion. due to our own vigilance and research we have 205K miles on this vehicle and use the frams on and off, when i can find the rubber butted ones. suck it, gm. and do better, for the love of Pete.

The filter itself seems to be of high quality, and is rated for a long service life. I have switched from K&N to Fram Ultra on both of my cars now, as they seem to be a better value, at similar quality. Per manufacturer recommendations (see your owners manual), some vehicles now recommend one filter change per 2 oil changes. Especially for this type of application, I highly recommend a Fram Ultra filter. I did like the 1" hex not on the K&N filters, however, this is the only con I had when switching over from K&N to Fram Ultra. The K&N filters may take more pressure before bursting the case (how often does that ever happen anyway!), but the Fram Ultra seems to be similar in filtration and quality, and is less expensive. I only use high quality filters, and Fram Ultra is my new favorite.
