Both pretty and sturdy
This mix-and-match set of William Morris designs combines neutrals with pastels (mostly soft green, wheat yellow and the newly-popular color that used to be called dusty rose). The china is not the same grade as Spode Christmas Tree; it is slightly heavier and the background color is not white but off-white, so the feeling is more casual than crisp. I can attest that this "fine earthenware" is sturdy. Even though the manufacturer's boxes were not packed tightly enough inside a too-big mailing box and basically exploded during shipping, every piece of Spode arrived undamaged. I am very happy with the product.

Beautiful but Packaging Problems
When I opened the Amazon box, I discovered that one of the large dinner plates was broken. Plates weren't properly protected inside the seller's original packaging—there was minimal padding between each piece. Amazon's shipping box also lacked sufficient protective material for such fragile items.These are lovely plates, the unbroken pieces are high quality and heavy as they should be.

Gorgeous Morris pattern -cottage/fairy-core - hight quality Spode plates
These are already my favorites. The assorted Morris patterns have a modern cottage or fairy-core feel.The patterns are soft pastel colors and look lovely on the table. I'll mix them with other modern plain dishes and serving plates.The plates were carefully packaged in the Spode box within another Amazon box. Everything arrived in perfect shape, nothing was damaged. I plan to buy the Spode Morris pasta or soup plates too.
