Nice and Complete Game Setup for the Family
The media could not be loaded. I know how to play Rummy, Hearts, and Poker (I LOVE Texas Hold ‘em). But I never heard of Michigan Rummy or Tripoley. So I was intrigued when I saw this and had to check it out. What a lot of fun! This is a great set… no running to the store to get something you don’t have. Comes with the board, the chips, even two decks of cards. The board/mat rolls up conveniently.Overall, I’d say get this. The price might seem a little high for a “board game” but it does come with everything you need and you’ll definitely get plenty of enjoyment out of it.Very happy I got this.

Made the game much easier!
We have been playing this game from little pieces of paper I printed out and used 3D printed chips we got from a friend. This has made the game much easier and to have it all in one place is just amazing! The mat is like a professional card mat and the cards and chips don't slip and slide easy like it does on a table. The mat is big enough that you can have lots of chips in one place. The chips are very nice but have a rustic look to them which adds a level of fun to these old bones. It comes with 2 very nice decks of cards. The instructions are printed out in this funny font that does make it a bit hard to read. Some of the younger folk may read it better but us ol' gents had a little tuff time reading it. The game rules are just as I remember and know playing.

What fun!
When I was a kid my grandmother taught us “Pennies Canasta” that uses five or seven decks of cards depending on the players and we loved it as kids. We also played Rummy and when I saw this game I instantly ordered it! It’s got a great board (we didn’t even have a board back then she had made markers for each place with thin pieces of wood that she painted. This game has a really nice felt board and all of the chips needed and both decks of cards. The instructions are just ok (because while I sort of remember the game - I still forget it at the same time 🙄). What I did was I watched a couple of people explaining and demonstrating the game and it was an “ohhh yeahhh” moment remembering the game. We’ve played almost every night with the kids and they love it! It’s fun to teach them games that they can enjoy now and also when they’re our age with their friends. My parents always had nights where friends or neighbors would come over and play cards and I want to start doing that also! This is a great gift! In fact, my three other siblings are all getting a game from me for Xmas or their bdays! They’ll love it!

Good addition for family game night
Th package includes a pretty nice game mat, poker chips and 2 decks of cards. The game instructions are adequate but not great but if you don't have a friend or family member familiar with the game play, you can find decent YouTube videos to help you. Obviously not a great game for younger kids but for adults, teens, and older preteens, it's a pretty good family game night addition.

Reasonably good equipment for the game
Component-wise, the most important element of the set is probably the playing mat. Of course you could do without this - all it does is identify the different bets, and if you know the rules you could improvise a substitute. But the mat in this game has a nice look and feel to it. It's about 2' x 2' and has some good weight to it. It's nice for atmosphere if nothing else. The rest of the components are nothing special. It's nice that it includes everything you'd need to get a game going, but if your interest is a premium set of chips or cards, what's in this set isn't that. Also note that at the time of this writing, the product page indicates that there's a carry bag; my set had no such bag. I have a hard-and-fast rule about products that don't match their advertisement, and this is why I gave 3 stars instead of 4.The chips are reasonably nice. There's not a huge number of chips, but they're in 5 colors and have clearly-marked denominations (which can be helpful for groups that don't play a lot of poker or for whatever reason have different conventions regarding chip color). They're thin and light-weight. I think they're just basic plastic chips, but even at that they're not ridged like many plastic chips so they don't lock into stacks. Still, they're perfectly usable.(Back on the topic of storage - there is no rack or anything for the chips, so unless you get chip storage separately you'll just end up leaving them loose in the box. Not a huge problem, but also not great having to regroup the chips before dividing them up at the start of a game.)The cards are cheap knock-offs meant to look like Bee, which I always find a little annoying. They're not the worst, but the deck backs are clearly meant to give the impression that they're something they aren't.Lastly, there's an instruction book. As with many card games, there are multiple variations of Michigan Rummy. The rules you play by are going to depend on where you learned to play, etc. The rules in this set teach a way to play the game in enough detail to be unambiguous, and for the most part it teaches that variation clearly. It does have a few problems. (The first section says something like "Here's what the layout looks like:" but then there's no diagram or anything; it just goes straight into the next section. At least one section references an alternate variation that's never fully described. The section describing the dealer's options regarding the extra hand is kinda all over the place.)My other criticism of the rules is that they're printed in a font that's unnecessarily hard to read if you don't have perfect vision. It could be printed at the same size in a more sensible font and be much more legible.Still, as I say, it's mostly clear and I think any group of players could pick up the game from scratch using these rules and at least all agree on how they would play. You can always look up alternate rules / other variations online (though of course the mat is a little opinionated in terms of what specific cards are scoring cards, if nothing else).Bottom line - it's a basic but functional set. The game mat plus getting everything you need for the game in one package probably just about justifies the cost. A carry bag would be nice, but with or without one it could be a 4-star product if it just advertised as exactly what it is.

Learning Curve
I got this because I enjoy playing rummy and poker, however, I did not realize that when you combined them that it would ramp up how complicated the game would become! I don't mind that the game is a little more complicated than the card games I am used to playing, I'm just not in the best place to learn this new game well. It's taken me a while to grasp the basics of the game, and I still haven't won yet. Ah well!

One of our family favorites
We absolutely LOVE this game. Grandma has this at her house and we play every Sunday after lunch. We thought it would be fun to have the game at our house for game night. Some of the things that make this game so fun is that there are so many games mixed into one round. Rummy, Poker, Hearts and all fun by themselves, but making a game with rounds of them provides hours of entertainment. The more people, the more fun. We played with 3 and it was okay, but it lasted for a long time. When you have 5 or 6 players, the rounds are shorter and poker is much more fun.
