Ergodyne Skullerz 8945 Universal Safety Bump Cap Insert, Lightweight, Fits Into Any Baseball Hat

This insert is exactly what I needed for work. Slides right into my regular baseball cap and you barely notice it's there. Lightweight and comfortable. Took a few minutes to trim it to fit my hat perfectly. Now I forget I'm wearing it – until I bump my head on something and realize it actually works. Had a couple of close calls that would've hurt without it. Good ventilation too. Doesn't make my head sweat like I expected. Solid value for the price.

I love these helmets. They are light weight and flexible. I have sleep apnea and need to wear a chin strap. The chin strap, of course, runs over the top of my head and was creatng a dent in the top of my skull. It would mess up the way my hair would lie. I looked like there was a "saddle" on top of my head... lol. I use this helmet under the chin strap strap that runs over the top of my head. No more dents in the top of my head and my hair brushes out beautifully. You can cut this helmet to custom fit. I wear it every night and couldn't be happier that I found it. It make my sleeping so much more comfortable. I am a builder, and also use this helmet under my cap (Which it was designed for) and it helps protect me from head trauma should my head get hit on the job. It's a great contribution to my life.

Perfect fit in any ball cap. I work in tight spaces and it saves my melon daily. It also keeps the hat shape perfectly! This is my third one so that I don't have to change them from hat to hat. Great product, Great value!!

This was really easy to insert after cutting it to the appropriate size and keep it in your cap. For most caps the insert will not make it look any different but is visible under the mesh for trucker caps. It does seem to add a bit of protection for my head but it makes my cap warmer and I'll sweat a lot more with this on. Finally, this didn't seem like it was brought up but it does add weight to the cap and can feel uncomfortable the first few time wearing it. And of course if this cap falls onto the ground it will make a hilarious thud when other people around expect it to be a regular cap.

I am an auto mechanic and very frequently I bump my head on the underside of vehicles. I have had many cuts and lacerations to my head from various things under the vehicle or from bumping my head on the lift arms when standing up. Last Wednesday I hit my head on the lift again and caught the sharp edge when I did. Not only did it hurt like crazy but it left a nasty knot on my head. I finally decided to look into something that may help me out. I came across this product and since it was relatively cheap decided to give it a try. It arrived within 2 days (thanks prime!) and I used it for the first time yesterday. I did have to trim the sides as it’s fairly tall, that was very simple since there are guide marks for cutting. Once I had trimmed it I installed it into my hat and it fit perfectly. While wearing it I completely forget that it’s there. It does not squeeze, pinch, or rub in anyway. The foam insert on the top adds comfort and helps to keep my hat in place. I did not notice any added heat from it either, it seems to vent very well and is light enough that it isn’t like wearing a helmet all day. It is also invisible, no one can tell that it is in my hat and really, by looking in the mirror I confirmed that if I didn’t already know it was there I would have no clue from the looks of the hat. Finally, I realize that this isn’t a safety helmet, it isn’t going to offer me any protection if something were to fall on my head BUT that isn’t why I bought it. I confirmed that it does indeed do what it says it will. I bumped my head under a car on the first day that I had this piece in my hat and I felt nothing! No cut, no bruise, no ouchie. It did EXACTLY what I wanted it to do. I highly recommend this to anyone who works in the auto mechanic field or anyone who bumps their head from time to time. I truly wish that I had discovered these a long time ago.

I've had to wear military Safety Cranial Protection for about 15 years of my Navy Service. If I had this for when I was doing non-aircraft vehicle maintenance or stuff that required a bit of head protection for banging into things it's a perfect thing. Light Weight and Flexible to fit under a baseball (or duck bill cap as the EU calls it, since they don't have Baseball there). It's the perfect balance of basic protection without sacrificing comfort to wear for all day. However, it does cause a lot of sweat collection to occur on really hot days even light color doesn't help; so you feel like your brain is baking even with a mesh backed ball cap. From Automotive Maintenance & Repair to DYI &Home Maintenance to Moving Furniture Work; this is a GENIUS idea for protecting your head from minor bumps and bruises. For Example: Having someone drop a tool on your head or hood (bonnet in the EU) of the vehicle deciding to drop without warning. As well as working under a vehicle to protect yourself even with a hard hat on top as extra protection (Oil Change or other under vehicle maintenance). I would have love to also used this as additional protection when I was a Park Ranger (Security) at the remodeling of the buildings at my job site. While I was never directly in a construction area most days. The fact that this would have been great to wear for walking around and having a branch or other item drop on my head just out walking around in the wilderness.

Good protection

Fits snuggly into a baseball cap, just be warned that it'll get quite hot after a short time. But if you need some light head protection and you want to keep it discrete, then this is a very handy purchase.

Very good product but it’s expensive, there are more choices in this budget.
