Buy Programming Google App Engine with Python: Build and Run Scalable Python Apps on Google's Infrastructure by Sanderson, Dan (ISBN: 9781491900253) from desertcart's Book Store. Everyday low prices and free delivery on eligible orders. Review: Five Stars - Even better than the First Edition with coverage of ndb and improved clarity of explanations. Review: Very good overview in need of an update - This book was very useful to me as I started to write python apps hosted on GAE, particularly the extensive coverage of the datastore and modelling, filtering and sorting concepts. A word of caution though - the book is a few years old now and GAE moves on rapidly, the book desperately needs an update. For example, the book uses the 'appcfg' command syntax for deploying applications which is now deprecated in favour of 'gcloud'. Overall there isn't much not covered in this book, it would just benefit from a new revision and some additional examples, perhaps with each chapter having its own examples available on GitHub.

A little confusing in the order of arguments . Some times I had problems following the book and I had to go forward , coming back aftervsome chapters.

Before purchase, I did not notice this book (or at least this particular release of it) is for Appengine Python v2. This version is no longer fully supported and lots of the examples were not applicable, to a degree that half of the book is useless. I still learned a few tricks, grasped a few concepts here and there, but this book need a big update.

Great book to learn all the supported features in the app engine.

Insufficient as any sort of practical introductory guide. The authors seem to have a very poor idea of how to use examples. There are virtually no whole projects. Subjects are dealt with in such a compartmentalized fashion that the reader is overly challenged when trying to place them all together. If you're like me, you look for books that will take you through entire projects (either one per chapter, or one that grows throughout the book, or a combination of both). This book is very clumsy when it comes to examples, and laborious when it comes to explanations.
