The final solution to head shaving
Previously used a standard Gillette razor to shave my head in the shower with shaving cream, was somewhat time consuming but I got the hang of it. Burned through the blades though and the little lotion bar or whatever. The headblade thingy works quite well, gonna keep using it. If you're not trying to make your shave 100% perfect it is much, much faster and easy to use and comfortable. The blade itself is better designed for head shaving than a typical razor - keeps its edge and doesn't irritate as much which may be a result of the necessary motion but the result's the same. The lotion bar degrades much, much slower. If you want 100% perfect it takes a bit longer and it can't quite get all the spots all the way because of its shape. I use my old razor for touchup around my ears and the back lower part of my neck. Overall time spent to get a perfect shave, starting with the headblade in long strokes, touching up missed spots with it, then normal razor for the problem spots is still much faster than just using a normal razor. I also tried a Skull Shaver Bald Eagle electric head razor and the headblade is waaaay cheaper, the blades are cheaper, it gets a much closer shave, is easier and faster to clean, and is just as fast to use. I bought this product at full price and was not solicited for a review. I don't write reviews often but when I was looking for a solution there was so much marketing hype bs I had to filter through, I just want to save you the time.

Efficient Head Shaving, But Requires Practice and Gentle Touch
The HeadBlade ATX Razor is a great tool for those who regularly shave their heads. It offers a quick, efficient, and close shave. However, it requires practice and a gentle touch to avoid irritation and cuts. If you're willing to invest the time to learn how to use it properly, the HeadBlade ATX can be a valuable addition to your grooming routine. If you have very sensitive skin, or are not willing to take some time to learn how to use it, you might want to consider another option. I would rate this product 4 out of 5 stars, due to the learning curve

Excellent Product
I bought if from a friend's recommendation and couldn't be happier. I need to buy some replacement blades but its easy to use and gets a super close shave. Any shorter and people would be able to read my mind!

Unique "Flow Through Technology" allows your wallet to become lighter. Hope you don't actually need to shave with this, though.
I normally don't make it a point to leave negative reviews for products that don't really blow my hair back (no pun intended), but this item is so incredibly useless and criminally overpriced that I felt it necessary to tell the world about how awful it actually is. I paid $16.99 including shipping for this item. For reference, I was using a $5.99 8-pack of Wilkinson Sword Sensitive Skin 3-blade razors for this purpose, one per shave, along with Cremo Cream (I live in small town and both of these are easily available at Walmart). I had no issues with this at all but I had seen enough about the HeadBlade that I figured I would give it a shot. I knew it was going to be gimmicky to some degree, but I did not expect it to be a $17 paperweight (which wouldn't even work very well for that purpose, now that I think about it). I shave my head every other day. I did not let my hair grow out any longer than usual and used the HeadBlade on my normal shaving day. After only half of my head had been shaved that I actually cut myself twice (this NEVER happens with normal razors and the Cremo cream). I figured that I simply had not quite picked up the nuances of using the product and not been acquainted with the best way to use it so as to avoid nicks and cuts. Wrong -- the blades were so dull already after 45 seconds of shaving that I could run my finger along the blade and barely feel an edge. I don't know if this is normal for this product or if I received a lemon, but to not even be able to finish a single shave with a $17 razor blade is simply unacceptable. The "flow through technology" is a joke. The cheap Walmart blades I use have the same "flow through technology" -- if that's what we are arbitrarily calling a standard razor design nowadays. I had to rinse this razor just as often as a normal one during the shaving process. I'm sure I could think of some other smaller issues I had with the item but I think what I have mentioned here is more than enough to justify my disillusionment with this product. Unless I received a defective product, this is an incredibly overrated and useless item that is also extraordinarily overpriced. If I could give this thing a negative rating I would. I have never been so disappointed with a product I bought on Amazon.

The best head razor on the market
Still the best head razor on the market. Been using this product for almost 20 years.

Adequate, but not the best.
I've been shaving my head for a few months now and have tried a few solutions. The HeadBlade ATX is decent, but not the best product or value for taking care of your head hair trimming needs. Pros: It's conveniant, feels natural, and is a bit of a conversation piece. You can just pop the blades in and a few different cartridge brands work - you don't have to stick to the brand name HeadBlade cartridges which tend to run a bit more expensive. The rolling motion feels natural and is an easy solution if you aren't used to shaving your head. Cons: It's more expensive than your other options, it's not the smoothest or closest shave you can get, it's a pain to get in the nooks and crannies which are found all over your head. I would personally recommend going to any bulk website for cartridge razors (for example, I use Dorco razors straight from their website which is rather economical in comparison to almost everything you'll find here on amazon). You'll easily end up paying >$12 for a set of 4 replacement blades straight from the manufacturer. In comparison, I can go to dorcousa.com and get 16 razors for $15. I've also found that the rolling motion tends to give you a mediocre shave despite repeated strokes with, across, and against the grain of my hair and the forced motion of the rolling leads to scrapes and cuts. Other cartridge razors lend a much smoother and less painful experience during the shave. Lastly, nooks such as just above the ear and along the base of the neck where the spine meets the skull are very difficult to reach with this rolling design. In summary, I recommend you look elsewhere. As I mentioned previously, I discovered several websites which offer bulk discounts on razor products (which you will need assuming you plan on shaving your head regularly). dorcousa.com has the best deals I've found and their own brand razors are actually at least on par with other brands such as Gillette or Schick, possibly better.

Hair is for Sissies and Beggars.
I want to go bald. I have thought about it for a long while--ever since I was five or six. As a kid, I'd look up to bald men on TV, like Kojack, and the father from Eight Is Enough. I did not envy Michael Landon's hair the way my friend, Chris, did. I think he was borderline you-know-what. I bought this Headblade after watching many movies about it on the internet. Every guy that uses it makes it sound like having a bald head is everything I ever imagined: it's cool, and hip and feels like sandpaper and everyone wants to rub it and it makes you feel like the life of the party. Then, these same guys usually go on to show a photo of how they looked before the bald head, and they had a hairline like Uncle Fester. So, really, I suddenly can't take their notion of what is good or not anymore. They're opinion is vapor on a bathroom mirror. They went from horrible to better. How does that apply to me, a full headed thirteen year old? I look at this tiny Matchbox car snow plow in the package every day, and one day I got bold. I took it out and shaved my face with it. Although I nicked the two lower corners of my nose on each side with it (so it looked like someone tried to tear my nose clean off my face for a couple days), it really did "snowplow" my whiskers right off. You see, that's the ATX part of this blade...it's okay to use it on your face. So, for now, I'm actually using it on my face. I go, "Vroom, vroom" an ride it up and down my neck and cheeks and it works well. You see, I gave it five stars. One day, probably when I'm having a fit of rage over something menial like running out of toothpaste just before my big date and having to clean my tongue by doing that front-teeth-scrapes-tongue-as-it-goes-in-and-out number, I'll just decide to run this Hot Wheels right over my entire squash. I will update this review at that time.
