Men's Targhee 3 Low Height Waterproof Hiking Shoes

I need wide toe boxes and this pair seemed to offer that and they do have plenty of toe room. They're good looking and initially comfortable. The sole are stiff and do not flex as much as I'd like for hiking shoes (why one star was knocked off), but they might break-in. The outer soles are soft rubber and appear as though they provide good traction on most surfaces (wet or dry). The size seems to be true... I normally wear a 10 and this pair of 10's (wide) fit my foot perfectly. They appear to be well made, but time will tell. I will be taking them on vacation, where my daughter will be dragging me on 5-10 mile hikes daily through mountainous and rocky terrain. I'll update the review when I return. 5/3/2026 update: First hike was 2.3 miles with elevation change of 918ft on a rock strewn washed out path. The shoes were very comfortable without need for break in. No blisters or hot spots. Although it was 85F and 90% humidity and I was a sweaty mess, my feet did not over heat. The soles gripped great on rocky surfaces. The wide toe boxes prevented pinching on the descent. No visible damage to the soles or uppers after the hike. The stiff soles I mentioned earlier turned out to not be a problem.

I own four different styles of KEEN footwear, and this will be my third purchase of this particular style. As long as they keep making them, I will be a forever KEEN customer. I've read some of the other reviews and haven't had any issues whatsoever with poor quality and wearability. In fact, the opposite. I wear them daily to work, easily 9 months out of the year, and hike in them frequently--never had any issues with the soles giving out after a year or less, mine have lasted almost two years each time and they are rigorously tested. They are breathable, water proof and very comfortable to wear, even on hard surfaces. Note: they run true to size. Highly recommend! Love my KEEN's...

Keen is a proven hi-end shoe, and these bare that out. They are as described. Def water proof, and quite comfortable. They also look great. Only had a couple of months so we will see where they are at after a year, but initially these boots are the bomb!

I do a LOT of walking, much of it in urban areas but also on trails. I have heard about the KEEN shoes for years, and I finally got a pair late in 2023. (The pair I purchased more recently from Amazon was to replace that earlier pair.) The news is mostly good. They are very comfortable shoes, and I especially appreciate the roomy toe area. The uppers are solid and stand up to mud and water — I've used them for long walks in rain. The thickness and stiffness of the sole is just right for me — not too stiff for the urban walking, but providing enough cushion and stiffness for hiking on trails, including somewhat rough trails. The little loop at the heel is actually useful when putting the shoes on. The lacing system is straightforward and effective. The shoes were comfortable right out of the box and remained so. I would like to mention two issue that buyers should be aware of. First, like many similar shoes, the removable cushioned insoles are not very durable. After six months of use or a bit less the fabric on top of the insoles began to wear and I had to replace them. More concerning to me is that the soles wore down significantly after six months, to the point that all of the heel tread was gone and a hole revealed the underlying (and less protective) inner foam layer. Unfortunately, the soles are not replaceable. In fairness, I walk a lot and I do wear shoes out this way. But do be aware of this if you purchase this shoe.

I bought these with the idea of waterproof hikers. They fit really good and are comfortable to wear but the big problem is they are really really heavy, almost as heavy as the Old School Danner hiking boots. So I’m not thrilled with these and will probably replace with nice light Merrill Moab’s - just too heavy to be practical. Plus with the wide toe box they are clumsy to wear, almost like wearing snowshoes. Update as of March, 2026. I have grown to absolutely love my Keene Targhee 3 hiking shoes. I have worn them everyday for the past 2 years and they are my favorite DO EVERYTHING SHOE. they are extremely comfortable, show almost no sign of wear, and are remarkably waterproof. My new favorite all-time shoe. I’ve gotten used to the weight and don’t even notice it anymore. I highly recommend these shoes!

This is my 3rd pair of Keen shoes in 10 years. The first two pairs were extremely durable and each lasted about 4 to 6 years of everyday use. My experience has been nothing but positive with this brand. My first pair was purchased at a Tractor Supply store in 2016. The second pair were bought on Amazon in 2022, and now in 2026 this is my 3rd pair if Keen's. Going off of the two previous pairs, these held up allot better than your average cheap pair of Walmart shoes, which was what I bought before 2016. Sure these are more expensive, but with Keen shoes, you really do get what you pay for, and more. This time I ordered a half size bigger than I previously bought, which a is perfect fit for me. I expect these shoes will last another 4 to 6 years, going off my first two pairs. Time will tell. I'm happy to stick with this brand for so long now.

I first bought the Targhee 1 years ago and love them. Love them so much I had them re-sold and wore those until the shoe practically fell apart. Then I bought the Targhee 2 and hated them. I still wore them until they wore out but the fit was crap. I am happy to report that the Targhee 3 are awesome. Definitely different then the first iteration of the shoe but a great shoe that has been comfortable from day one. I love them. There was one thing that I thought was going to be a problem, when I first put them on the foam around the ankles was riding high on my ankle. I thought this was going to be uncomfortable but within 15 minutes of wearing the shoe I didn’t even notice it. Not sure if the foam is just so malleable that it is an issue or what but I haven’t felt it since that first day and I’ve been wearing the shoes for a couple months now

Right out of the box these shoes are very stiff. (A little more stiff than usual) It’s going to take a lot of mileage before they are broken in. My grandfather used to say “soak your new shoes in a pail of water then wear them til they’re dry.” That might be necessary with these. Other than that these shoes look to be the usual high quality of Keen products. 10.5 Wide are true to size and fit me well. I expect these shoes to last at least a couple of years with daily use as have all of my Keen shoes and boots.

Langzeittest fehlt noch, denke aber der wird gut. Ich hatte schon Keen Sandalen, die hielten ewig-Top
