Not the taste of real hollandaise sauce.
Something has changed with sauce. It doesn't taste like it used to. Just tastes like a white sauce with slight garlic flavour, not the hollandaise flavour at all. Disappointed.

I wasnt expecting much
This makes making hollandaise sauce a breeze thought the taste is not completely the same as you would get with homemade one. I found that the sauce is not as tangy as it could be and we had to add extra stuff to get to our taste. So go for it if you need it super quick as it is great value for money.

Use as a base for Hollandaise Sauce, but not on it's own
I used to buy the Colman's Hollandaise Sauce packet mixes, but since they discontinued production I have been forced to use this product instead as it is the only packet mix of Hollandaise Sauce I can find. When I first served this to my husband, he immediately noticed that it was not our usual sauce. To be honest, if Colman's still made their product, I would not purchase this one. However, I had to make it work somehow, so in order to get an acceptable flavour, I do the following: Melt a decent sized knob of butter in a pan and add the contents of the sauce packet Stir until all the granules have dissolved into the melted butter Add a couple of teaspoons of lemon juice and stir well Add 300ml milk. There is no need to add gradually. Just pour it all in. Bring to a high temperature, stirring all the time or you are likely to have some black burned bits on the bottom of your pan When the sauce reaches the correct temperature it will begin to thicken. Once it has reached the correct consistency, which should only take a few seconds, pour into your serving container. By adding the butter and the lemon juice the quality of the product is improved to an acceptable standard.
