I am an aerospace machinist. My tolerances are 3rd and 4th digit precise (0.001 - .0.0005).Mitutoyo is an excellent choice for highest precision and reliability. The thimble has smooth action. The display is crisp and easily readable. The accuracy is better than 0.00002.One point to note: The display will auto-off after around 20 mins, but activates with the smallest movement of the thimble. I wasn't sure if it was shutting off in it's case because the screen was on when I opened the case. There is no on/off button. All good.If you want the highest quality micrometer, Mitutoyo is among the best.Delivery was expedient. I had my micrometer in just a couple days (could have been sooner, but I used the "less packages" option).Everly Home &Gift is an excellent company. Will buy from again and again.

Amazing accuracy and smooth rotation of dials. It maintains its zero on return all the time.

This was purchased for general household use. It's probably more micrometer than we really need, but we wanted to purchase a great quality tool that will last and this Mitutoyo micromoeter is exactly what we were looking for. It is very easy to use, and easy to take the battery out to extend its life when not using the tool. The ratchet mechanism is great, readings are very accurate and consistent when the ratchet is used to zero the tool and to take measurements. It is handy to be able to flip the digital readout between inches and millimeters, and it's nice to also be able to use it as a purely analog (mechanical) device.The battery is one small negative, it appears to be important to purchase a genuine 938882 replacement battery when the time comes. The genuine tool battery has a flat discharge characteristic, the voltage sag is insignificant and the tool behaves reliably until the battery is nearly dead. The inexpensive SR44 replacements that run for $1.50 to $1.75 each will work when new, but the voltage sags gradually as the battery is used which can result in erratic behavior when the battery is partially discharged.

No flaws the the meaningful parts of this product, but I would love if the tensioner on the end were more pleasant to the touch. The main barrel has nice texture and substantial feel, but the end piece has the look and feel of a bicycle tube stem cover and makes the overall product seem less premium.
