Stansport Mining Kit

My dad is a prospector by hobby. He knows a ton about mining and panning. I wanted to teach my kids and ordered this one. The pans were just like the ones he has used for years. They are thick and sturdy. They did very well and helped us find a little bit of gold dust. The rock hammer is very solid and quality as well. The book was pretty good, and we were happy with the little sample bottles to put some of your samples in. I was nervous to buy because it was a little more expensive than others, but it is a great set for the price and will last for years.

This is a great value with good tools to get you started gold panning. The shape of the pans make them easy to use. The scoop and pick are well made and should last with proper use. The snifter bottle was very helpful in picking out small bits of gold that were too small for our finger. I like this kit and will purchase more for gifts.

If your just starting out this is good for you but if you want to go all out this is not it it’s very simple but no bad at all and ver sturdy

This was a fun gift and had a great time using it. The rock hammer is not estwing and will not hold up long but for a random fun time it works great too!

It worked great for what I purchased it for. We used it to pan through paydirt we got for Christmas. We had a few issues learning to use the squeeze bottle, but we got the hang of it after a while. This was quite the fun experience. The dark background makes things pop really well.

Nothing special but it works

It's a fun "explore this thing!" style kit for adults. You get all you need to basically Do A Thing, but if you want to get serious you'll definitely be upgrading your gear. The plastic shovel broke in half the first time I used it, and I'm still using the rock hammer but I'm not expecting it to last long. The pans are fine, workable, sturdy so far as I've used them. I like the smallest pan. Rub some sand around the inside to scruff it up and it works better. Comes with a cute little booklet too with the illustrated basics. Good gift because it's just good enough to be satisfying to an absolute beginner, especially for the money involved.

Like what other reviewers said, this kit was worth the price for the hammer alone. I know other people had issues with broken items in the kit as the hammer is not secure in the box and probably smashing against everything but I got lucky with this one. Everything arrived in perfect condition including the little plastic vials. For the price, this is a great little kit to grab and go out with.

This was my first foray into panning. This kit had everything I needed to get started. Pans work really well, gold shows up against the flat black nicely. The handbook is a nice touch as many of the locations I tried didn't have cell service. I recommend getting this kit, read the handbook, watch The Treasure of the Sierra Madre 😁, and get out there!
