A nice tea from an excellent company, but pales compared to their Lifeboat tea
Williamson is unique among British tea companies in that they only use tea from their own tea plantations in Kenya. They were also early adopters of environmental initiatives and remain a leader in sustainable tea production. I like this company but had previously only had their Lifeboat tea as their other teas generally have a high price point (at least in the US) to match their posher image. I was excited to try their English breakfast when it dropped some in price. It is a nice tea but I found it very similar to Lifeboat, though inferior due to its notably diminished strength. The EB is also a brisk and bright blend of Kenyan black teas and shares Lifeboats smoothness and good flavour. Unfortunately, for some reason this tea only has 2.5 grams of tea in the bag compared to Lifeboats 3 grams. Although the tea is robust if you brew it long enough, the difference in strength is both notable and lamented. I imagine Williamson would say this is a more refined tea than Lifeboat but I just don’t buy that. The tea comes from the same Kenyan farm, is described almost the same way, and, to me at least, smell and taste essentially the same. I wouldn’t call myself a tea expert, but I am an experienced black tea drinker and I really think the only difference between this and Lifeboat is the lesser strength. Given that, and the fact that the EB costs more and that you only get 50 bags compared to Lifeboat’s 80, I would recommend Williamson’s Lifeboat tea over this one. Having said that, this tea is still good. It just needs to be brewed longer in the mug or with 5 bags in a pot. If you prefer your tea a little weaker, this might work fine for you. I also think Williamson is a great tea company with admirable ethics and I would be very interested in trying their other tea bags or loose teas.

Try it.
Very nice tea, not too acidic if you can tell the difference. Most breakfast teas are that they. Too expensive, should be around 5 per box. But if that is not a problem for you, you should defiantly try is. It does have a small stop taste at the end, which depends on how long to brew it for.

Very flavorful and fragrant tea. Definitely a strong tea ...
Very flavorful and fragrant tea. Definitely a strong tea. I am huge coffee drinker, but and this tea definitely stands up to even coffee in strength. Only thing to note is that the tea bags do not have strings and tabs. You throw the tea bag into the cup (or tea pot) and you need a tea spoon to fish the tea bag out when it is done steeping.

English tea for snobs and wealthy
Williamson teas are strictly for English, the wealthy and snobs. If Lipton dirt in a bag are good enough for you don't waste everyone's time by purchasing their teas. To drink Williamson you need to know the difference between Assam and Kenyan. To drink Williamson you need to be tea intelligent to be able to explain how they combine varietals of tea to create each unique type of tea, English breakfast, Irish breakfast and on and on. If you don't know what temperature the water should be, how long to steep the tea and what three additions to a cup of tea are acceptable then just put your dollar in a machine for a bottle of Liptons or whomever, you would waste your money on tea that you won't understand.
