I have 35 inch opening, can I trim half inch off width of each to make it fit?
Will I be able to cut 1" off the bottom so the door is only 79" tall?
I need to cut the doors to 44 length. Can you tell me: How far is it from door top to bottom of 3rd cross piece?
My opening is 58" ,can I trim 1/2 " off each panel (4) ?

Love the doors, recommend different hardware though!

These doors are made of a nice quality of wood that stains well. Mine arrived very quickly, and well packaged and with no damage. Installation took me and two teenagers about 1.5 hours. One recommendation I have that would have made the install MUCH easier is if I had purchased the spring loaded pivots for the top of the doors, instead of using the plastic ones supplied in the kit. I learned this because my son forced the door open and broke one of the top pivots. I went to a local big box hardware store and purchased an item similar to these http://www.amazon.com/Prime-Line-Products-6782-Bi-Fold-Pivot/dp/B00E3NCC06/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1424560193&sr=8-4&keywords=sliding+closet+door+pivot, (at half the Amazon price, btw ;-). This pivot is spring loaded, so it does two things, it gives you room to work during installation, AND because it is spring loaded, it forgives if your measurements are not exact. I will be changing this part out on the other door as well. I attached a picture of my doors, stained and with different hardware than the knobs that come with the doors. We have not yet trimmed the doors, so take that into consideration as you view the pic. Very nice doors, I highly recommend!

Good quality, may require light touch up sanding

Solid doors that come with basic hardware. It is better to purchase premium hardware to avoid maintenance in the near future. I put mine on a bi fold barn door system instead, which requires some modification of the typical instructions because these doors are thinner than typical barn doors. Use washers. Drill a new hole for the bottom door hold. Sealed with wipe on poly.

Most importantly, the door works great and looks great!

Most importantly, the door works great and looks great... but the instructions were not easy to understand.

Product looks great .. except not properly assembled

The door rails are not glued on both sides of the stiles - I don't know if this is by design or improper assembly - but it's not right. This is in four places. I will have to glue and clamp as shown in the second pic to make it right. to make it right. One day later: Amending to one star - after gluing the rails I started to finish the wood, only to discover some sort of gummy adhesive along the outside surfaces of the top and bottom rails - almost like a low density PE --- What the actual .... does appear to come off with scraping and lacquer thinner.

Wrong screws

I have just opened my package to find that I am short 2 "round top" screws, 3 "flat top" screws and the 2 "long screws" are missing. In place I have 2 "round top" screws and 6 other screws that do not match the "long screws" that are pictured. Essentially, I received only 2 screws.I am not surprised because that is a complaint among other customers. It is irritating but I am happy that I have kept extra screws in my garage. So far the door is ok. I am ready to prime.

I am happy. Read the instructions carefully. Plan and measure twice or more...

I am happy with these doors.Plan on sanding and finishing before installing.Be sure to read the instructions and layout the parts on the floor and determine which of the door guides and pegs goes into which corner first. Two pegs (one top and one bottom on the wall hinge side) make the door pivot hinge. One peg goes into the top guide plastic slider on the opposite side from the pivots.Stand the door up into the opening before doing anything. Measure and work out the exact height of the door in the opening including any bottom door thresholds. I needed to add a 2" x 4" filler across my opening on top (1` 1/2 nominal) and then after notching my bottom threshold piece for the bottom peg bracket 1/8" the door fit perfectly. Spend time to get it right. There is really only a slight chance to adjust the pivots by a small amount vertically. Once installed the first time, I dont think there is much chance of taking the door out to adjust things without damaging the pivots slightly. The top guide is installed with the bent end on the side of the pivots and guide braket. You will see the guide channel rails are bent in on one end to hold the pivot peg tightly. Once again be sure you have it right there is not much room for adjustment after the door is in.Now after installing the top guide you can check the height one more time. There is really no room for adjustment other than the top filler. Make sure you understand where everything goes and how it works before installing the doors in place. After everything has been finished and hardware installed you can install the door. Put the pivot peg side into the top guide bracket first, then the top peg into the guide on the other side. Finally slide the bottom pivot into the bracket. Make sure this bottom peg is screwed all the way into its sleeve when inserting the door. Then you can unscrew it to adjust the height somewhat. Luckily mine fit tight with the bottom peg insert screwed all the way in. I used a chisel slid under the door in the crack and managed to pry up and lifted the door so the peg insert went tightly into the bottom bracket. Finally, I leveled and centered best I could by pounding the bottom peg insert slightly over. Lucky with a proper wack the insert slid over a bit and now the door hung perfectly level, straight and opens smoothly. There is also an adjustment bracket and set screw on the top guide to move the door slightly left and right. Again there is little room for error here. Lucky mine did not need much adjustment.I added a piece of corner round down the door frame on the opening side for a door stop and to cover the 1/2" gap I had left in the width of the door opening. I could not get a filler piece to sit properly on the other side to fill that gap so I just left it.It was a two day project for me myself and I. I have good skills and it was a bit of a challenge as are most things.Overall I am very happy. I gave it 5 stars since although the door hardware is not perfect there is not a 4.5 stars.:)Tom

The hardware could be better but as long as you're gentle with it you should be fine.

I loved the way the door looked, then I took it down and painted it white and I also changed the wooden knob to a matching white porcelain knob. Overall, I am very happy with the door, it is solid wood and I needed to trim it to fit my space. So far, the door held up to me taking it apart, painting it, and putting it back up with no problems. You have to be gentle with the included track because it is a little flimsy but for me it worth the money. After having one up for a few weeks I went out and bought a second door. I have two dogs that scratch them and push them open daily and so far these doors have been great. Would definitely buy this door again.
