Installed and recognized on Windows 11 PC
This one worked. Windows 11 booted up properly and the card appeared in Device Manager. Replaces another unit that didn't work on my PC.

Good for mixing old tech with new PCs
Used it to connect an old Sony DV tape deck to a new editing workstation. Works great.

Great for Video Capture
My business does duplication services. We transfer many formats. The card has an DataVideo interface hooked up to it that we use to capture VHS and other formats. I haven't seen any drops in the capture. Happy so far!

Not for all PC's
I bought this card to install into my windows 10 PC. I had just purchased a firewire mixer and its manual recommended a FW card with the TI chipset for optimal performance. Well I got the card and installed it. The system did not boot. So, like so many others here and on youtube had tried, I tried another slot. Computer would not boot at all. So I went to Startech's website to download the legacy drivers. according to the instructions, I needed to go to a certain folder on my computer and open some .inf file that would then enable me to finalize the installation. But the file would not open. So I uninstalled and reinstalled. Lastly, I sent in a trouble ticket on their website. It's been 2 weeks and no response. So unfortunately, I'll have to send it back.

Mixed results...
Tried using this to connect a Focusrite Saffire Pro 40 and pro 24 dsp - totally refused to work this way. Was able after much grief to get one of the ports to work with a Win 10 machine for the pro 24 dsp. The pro 40 I left on my Win 7 machine. One of the problems I had was one of my firewire cables just doesn't work with this card at all for this. As I said, it worked for one unit with another cable, but only in one input slot - the one closest to the screw. If I tried plugging both units in - neither worked and I got a no hardware message. Weird. So, can't give this a glowing report, but it did eventually work for on unit, though the whole exercise was started because I wanted to use the two together.... YMMV... It doesn't cost much, but I spent hours on this. Not at all sure it was worth it.
