Perfect for other uses too!!!
I got this bowl to "hand hold" feed a pelleted complete vitamin/ mineral / joint supplement to my senior pony who has arthritis, IR (Insulin resistance) and Cushing's disease (PPID) and is "off" his feed, due to a side effect of the meds he is on. He will eat his hay, but it is not nutritionally complete, so it has to be supplemented. This bowl is the perfect size, and the handle makes holding it while he eats the supplements perfect!!! For me and my pony, this purchase is a win win...

Replaces a 10 cup heirloom plastic bowl, which I melted while making hibachi
This one is 3 qt, which is larger than the one we had. I’ve had to make adjustments for its storage. It’s snow white and sturdier than the one it replaces, so no problem on that account. There are measurement markings on the inside, which are totally illegible, but so were the markings on the one it replaced. No harm, no foul. I’m sure that once the guilt for ruining a family treasure fades (it was ugly), I will heartily enjoy it.

All the right features at a great price!
This is described as a "mixing bowl," but it's better than that - it's a genuine batter bowl. A mixing bowl is just a round bowl with a flat bottom. A batter bowl is meant to serve a dual function - for both mixing a batter, and then pouring it into muffin tins or whatever. For that to work, it has to have several features:1. Big enough to have room for the batter, and flat on the bottom, so you can use mixer beaters in it2. Good dripless spout, for precision pouring without mess or spillage3. Easy to maneuver - lightweight and easy to gripSuprisingly few bowls on the market meet these three criteria. Glass ones are out of the question - too bulky and heavy. A glass round mixing bowl is great for mixing, but impossible to pour from; glass "batter bowls" are misnamed - they aren't large enough to mix a full recipe of batter, they are too narrow at the bottom, their pour spouts are wide, clumsy and messy, and they are too bulky and heavy to control when trying to pour batter. They are essentially giant measuring cups. They're awkward and heavy even when empty.Stainless steel and plastic are better options, but most on the market today have inadequate pouring spouts, which drip heavily or spill over a wide area. Not so good for getting batter into cups without mess. There is also a current fashion for tiny handles, probably because it lets you have a stack of different sized bowls which nest neatly inside each other. The downside of that is, it's very hard to use one of those mini-handles to lift and control a full, heavy bowl of batter as you're trying to pour. You're forced to pinch the tiny handle between your thumb and forefinger, and that's easier said than done - it can slip easily and then you're having a bad day. This bowl solves all those problems. It's large enough to allow for high-speed mixing without spattering, and flat so that there's plenty of room for the beaters to reach everywhere. It's very sturdy, but also very lightweight and maneuverable, and the handle is as long as the bowl, so you have your choice of gripping it in your palm/fist, or just resting it over the crook of your open palm, so you don't even have to grip it much at all. Either way, pouring is a natural movement, without strain or slippage. The mostly dripless spout will drip a bit as any spout will, but much less, and it's easily controlled. I haven't had a problem pouring cupcakes, muffins and popovers. It's balanced and offers a lot of pouring control.I had to wait several times to buy this, as it kept being out of stock and then immediately selling out again. The reason it keeps selling out is that experienced bakers know the best product when they see it. This is much more useful than "fancy" bowls or sets that are double or triple the price. If you get a chance to get this, it's a keeper!
