You won’t be sorry you bought this!
I was making a C in my nursing fundamentals until someone recommended this book. Now I’m understanding the material much better, so I can apply to my school’s NClex style questions. This book breaks down everything and is very easy to read. Because it is written in every day language, reading the material is actually fun!

Worth the money
I started out bombing quizzes and barely got a C on my first fundamentals exam. I ended up acing my fundamentals class using this instead of reading our textbook. I only read the textbook for our exemplars of specific conditions, supplemented with my professors powerpoints, and THIS BOOK. It leaves out the fluff and breaks things down while connecting to major concepts. Highly recommend.

Legit
This book helped facilitate the first semester of nursing school for me by providing a much simpler look into fundamental in comparison to my heavy full of information nursing books. One thing I would of liked were more examples of topics.

Ridiculously overpriced
Truly, this book should be priced at no more than $15. It's a 7x9 paperback. Why the $70 price tag? Why do companies always have to gouge students who are already struggling financially?OK now that I've gotten that little rant out of the way, there are 3 problems with this book.1. It's not really any more "incredibly easy" than the average nursing textbook. Considering there are no large illustrations as in most textbooks, the actual text length (not page length) is comparable to a large textbook.2. It is lacking helpful charts that would make learning the material SO much easier. There are a few, but not the ones you really need. For example, there is not even a chart for all the basic vital signs reference ranges.3. The silliness factor is very distracting. The cartoonish B&W doodles add nothing helpful to the book. For this price, there should be realistic color pictures. B&W doodles belong in a $15 book, not a $70 book. And the "humorous" captions in the margins are silly at best, confusing at worst. They don't give you an easy way to find material in the book or know what a given section is about. One, for example, is called "Day shifts and night shifts." To a nursing student that sounds like it's going to be about differences in patient condition or care during the day versus during the night. But it's not. It's some kind of "funny" wordplay. Not helpful. The book is full of those things. I thought this book was supposed to simplify, not confuse?I was so disappointed with this book. It also doesn't use standard terminology for a number of things. And, as a 2015 book, it's outdated. The NCLEX has changed since then. Some nursing protocols have changed since then. Why no update? I sent it back.

Nursing studies
I have a co-worker who wants to go into nursing. I got her this book so she can get a jump on her studies. She's in school now, but her nursing classes don't start until the fall.
