Well designed

Smaller than I thought from the photo, but they have thought of everything.....very well designed, with battery backup, plug-in or crank options to power up. Really like the flashlight in addition to the radio feature. Great to have in case of emergency! Highly recommend to have in your repertoire of household items.

Love all the ways to charge and work it, even reg. Batteries.

I use in power outages. Make sure to keep charges by usb. Also put in window to help keep solar charged. And I keep reg. Batteries on hand. A prolonged outage requires many sources of power. I have power banks that I have used when charge runs low, but having solar and crank are great. But most of all having regular battery use makes it a perfect emergency radio. There is am/fm that gets decent reception, not throwing a party with it. Gets weather bands. Decent antenna. Has a weather alert system, also an emergency alert separate. It is digital which my son loves. The flashlight is bright, and the flip up light is very bright. In the dark it is like a lamp, point up to ceiling and the room is lit. I now have two, get it now they seem to be going to a bigger rechargeable radio minus the reg. Batteries, not smart for a long outage or trip.

Tough, compact, crank/battery-powered/rechargeable emergency radio + camping light + phone charger!

I really like this unit's feature combination. Excellent front panel readability w/optional backlighting, a very bright and dual-setting flashlight, very bright and dual-setting reading light, "SOS" noisemaker, phone-charger port, AM/FM/SW/weather radio plus weather-alert, and especially its ability to run off of 3xAAA batteries or its internal, hand-cranked-rechargeable battery. It has a carrying strap, carabiner and includes the USB cable to charge it. This selection of options seems to be a PERFECT choice for an emergency-use radio/device. The "regular" (non-discounted) price is about $4 higher than similar devices, but I feel the extra is worth it to offer the AAA dry-cell battery option, LCD panel and the "SOS sound" button. (I bought mine during a $4 discount campaign, so = WIN!) The speaker is strong, with no distortion at max volume. The solar panel on top is NEVER going to charge the battery from zero, but they say so in the product insert - - it's intended to "keep the battery topped off" (lol). (Don't expect it to charge in the sun.) They say the hand-crank will need between 8 and 15 minutes to charge a phone from dead to usable, which I think is entirely fair. I spent about 7 minutes cranking it, and the onboard rechargeable battery didn't move from 75%, so I think their time estimates and internal battery capacity are both accurate.) In short, I feel this manufacturer is being honest about their product's features, properly setting expectations, and delivering an excellent mix of features at a very fair price in this small form factor. I recommend one of these units for you home as an emergency-use radio and room/reading light during a power outage.

Reliable portable radio

Very reliable "weather" alert radio with multiple bands am, fm, NOAA stations and SW. Sound is great. Antenna extends and swivels for better reception. Flash light is bright. Reading lamp is bright and easy to use. All functions are easy to use and reliable. I highly recommend this "emergency" radio.

Great little radio!!!!

Luckily I had this post hurricane Helene otherwise I would have had no idea what was going on. Solar charging worked great and the built in lights are a huge plus! Radio also takes batteries and has a crank to charge. I bought a second one and gave it to my dad after going through Helene with only this little radio as my link to the world. Highly recommend.

It works

I'll be perfectly honest I bought this for the NOAA weather stations and the reading light and being solar powered. That it does excellently. The rest of the radio reception is sketchy at best the antenna sucks. When camped out I use a jumper wire to connect it to my ham radio antenna and then I get something resembling decent radio reception in the other bands. This is this is one of those you have to push the button or hold it down so it scans through the frequencies. It only stores the last frequency that it was on you can't program anything else. Needless to say it's a bit of an SOB if you're trying to go through this shortwave stations there's no jumping to the individual short way bands and adjusting from there you have to start at the top the bottom and go up or down through the scan feature. The alternative is even worse by having to push the button up or down individually.Other than that it seems like it's decent quality as far as construction goes the sound isn't too bad on it. And it does have if you want to turn it on the weather alert where it sits in standby mode and alert you if they have an emergency weather situation. Like I said it does what I bought it for so can't complain really if I want to listen to shortwave I have real radios for that and I don't have to worry about messing them up bouncing around on the dash of the truck

Reception worked at home and in a National Forest with sketchy cellular service.

Tried all the radio bands, alarm, and lights. All of them worked with a fully charged battery. Expect the same with the backup replaceable batteries or using the hand crank. I recognize these little solar cells can’t generate a full charge but nice to have if needed. Looking forward to trying it out charging my cell phone, tablet, and using the earphone Jack. It is very lightweight and has a small footprint. Easy to pop into my backpack for hiking, camping, or emergency weather evacuation.
